Zebra Silkworm

Has anybody had this happen? My container only had Zebra Silkworms in them... Does this happen if they can't find a spot to spin??? I never read anything about this...

The pupae isnt in a cacoon. Strange

The problem is that the caterpillar on the left started to metamorph without spinning a cocoon. This happened to some of the silkies I've hatched as well. As the OP said, it could be due to inability to find a good place to spin up. Maybe malnutrition. None the less, I've seen moths come out of those as well.
