My New Chameleon Zee just arrived today. We are sooooooo happy. He was shipped overnite from PA to TX and his aunt and I were on pins and needles to see is he would be ok. She told me he might not eat right away but he just ate a cricket not too long ago. He was eating mainly flies before he came down here and he started eating a few crickets a few days ago. He is only 3 months old and 3 1/2" long. I posted a pic of his house in the pics under Zee's new house for all to see. I will put up new pics soon of him.:D:D :D

And how will the survive in the natur ? It's just a question of the food. Flies, grashoppers and sometimes crickets are very activ and always on the go. The chameleon will find them

i am putting him a smaller container for feeding. feeding just fine. i thought he might not eat right away because of the trip but he is eating actually better now. than before he only wants crickets.

he is a veiled 3 months old on the 9th there are some in i plan on adding more when he get bigger. i did not want to over load him. we are going to stain the cage and put his name on it

I thnk the tree you are using isn't such a great idea. It will be hard for him to climb around on. I would maybe use a ficus or scheflera to give him more things to climb that he will be able to get his feet around.

3 months is a bit young to be in a cage that big.... but if you keep an eye on him and make sure he is able to eat you should be ok.

BTW what kind of lighting is that? I see the dome, what kind of lamp is that?

it is a halogen combo zilla from pet smart we are going to get another one sometime for the othe side it has a uv and a uvb

just a FYI my zilla brand UVB bulb started to make my chameleon go blind, and there are other reports. i know they probably said this will save you money blah blah blah. i work at pet land and was told the same crap when we got it. and its also for a desert series as well. immediately take it back. got to you favorite place... yes wallyword buy a clamp lamp from them, and a standard florescent tube fixture proabably run you all together about 25$ from walmart
get the uvb tube be it a Zoomed, or a Exo-terra tube florescent not a CFB (compact florescent bulb) its been associated with blindness, but not PROVEN yet to cause it directly. a standard 60W house bulb most people say thats the best W to use. i use a Rzilla (standard bulbs from them are fine to use just not UVB emitting ones) Day Blue which passes the standard bulb through a blue filter making it a 100% UVA (uva is created by everything though including normal house bulbs)which is supposed to give the best color distinguishing abilities these bulbs also run a lot cooler than standard bulbs i dont know why.

on a completely different note (yes i did double post so suck it lol) after seeing his actual size i would be really scared for him to be in such a big enclosure if he were to fall it would probably kill him, and at that young of an age they are not the most graceful things on the earth either. i would recommend sectioning off about half way up, and temp put a piece of screen up, and secure it with twist, or zip ties so he doesnt climb so high. i really hope you manage to find a way to sanction it off other than that his cage looks great for when he is older =) maybe add a ficus in there too since you can treat them like banzai trees you can trim the entire plant roots and all to make it stay small
