Zippy has the papilloma virus

Well, it's been confirmed that my little Carpet boy has the horrible papilloma virus. Unfortunately, due to the location of the biggest growth, neither freezing or surgical removal are an option. He also has additional problems at the moment - he was also diagnosed with mouth rot. Poor boy isn't having much luck right now.

In May 2014 he had no growths at all, but by November 2014 he looked like this:

Poor little guy! I'm not very familiar with the options for that virus - is there anything else they can do? Hope the mouth rot gets cleared up as well!

They can remove or freeze the 'warts' but they grow back again.

That's terrible. Poor little Zippy. I believe Ferritinmyshoes has a cham with with pap virus. She may be able to give you some good recommendations to avoid transmitting the infection to the other chams and for treating the growths.

There's really nothing they can do about that huge wart?

Poor Zippy, I am really sorry to hear his problems. Sadly it sounds as if there is very little you can do for long term results. I know how you love your chams and it makes me truly sad to hear your news.

Nope, sadly both options are not much help due to the location of the largest wart - he has several small ones along his bottom lips and on his toes at the nail bed. The growth on his head had 3 small bits that protruded over his eye and affected his vision. He must have fallen in the cage as he somehow managed to knock those overhanging bits off. At least he gets his tongue on target again!

He's an old boy now - he'll be 3 on 10th July, and that's old for a Carpet.
