Hello all, about time I put some photos up so these are pics of my new converted 5.5' Mahogany wardrobe viv and my male veiled setup. He's just starting a shed today (pics also from today), so I'll prob. get a few more when he's done :). If you want to see the smaller female setup I have there are a few more pics in the new album I've uploaded.

P.s. - Yes, I know how most of you feel about soil/compost for substrate but I've never seen a Cham eat it deliberately, and when they do get some in they spit it out. Plus it looks cool and I keep an eye on the stools...........

Set up looks cool, especially for a converted piece of furniture. I personally would be more worried about the internal lights though, and my chameleons ability to get to just about any place. so without an active barrier between him and the lights, I see it as burns waiting to happen. It almost looks like there are highways leading right to the lights in those pictures.. even just moving the branches far enough away that he couldn't reach the lights would put my mind at rest. Just my 2 cents though.

Well, it's not as close as it looks, and the basking lamp is only temporary until I get around to cutting a hole in the top and fitting an mv bulb outside. Temp at basking site is 88.

Be careful having the UVB light inside the enclosure, they can get hot, and if water contacts them and the bulb is hot enough it could shatter.

Plus he could easily burn himself from touching the light.

Did you seal the wood and make it waterproof?

The uvb bulb is warm if I put my hand round it - it can't burn him. I tend not to water the bulb, lol.
If you look in the second photo you can see the line of sealant inside. A friend of mine who was a joiner insisted on doing it for me, showed me a good tip as well. He also did the shelf, while I sat around and got a free viv from a wardrobe I wasn't using

Also, is Ziggy named after Stardust? I've often felt bit of an affinity for the thin white duke. Bit of a rocknroll chameleon, eh? :)

I once saw a very cool screen cage made out of a wood and glass library bookcase salvaged from a demolition. The wood frame was beautifully carved. Glass was removed from all sides and replaced with screen. It was about 6' tall, 4' wide.

Some cham friends used to make large indoor cages out of inexpensive free standing tub/shower surrounds. All they had to do was screen in the top and front, suspend the lights overhead, and plumb the existing tub drain somewhere.

I play in my bedroom, by myself, lol. It's a carp bass guitar for anyone good at anagrams (cryptic:)). I had a good one once, and I've been playing years, even played the double bass in an orchestra until I was about 12 and it wasn't cool enough.......
