Diy Cages Are the Bomb

I have been using LLL cages for my chams until now. I decided to try DIY since they are a sponsor and I liked the idea of having a real handle on the doors of my cages. So I ordered 2 of the 2x2x4ft models. They came on time. I also picked up a cpl of their double flourescent fixtures. Those are niiice, and so much easier than having to deal with two seperate fixtures for uvb and plant bulbs. I just wish they offered a drain pan on their site. I guess i will have to go back to LLL for drainage. Just wanted to give others a quick review and props to DIY for good customer service and a good product.

My latch broke on the one I had. They did offer to replace it but I sold it to someone else.

All in all not a bad cage.

I have 2 of their cages. I have a small one for my 4 month old panther. And I got the 2x2x4 for his adult cage. I like them too. I also was a big fan of the price. You cant go wrong with those prices. Well built, good price. I like how the door locks shut. Thats a good safety feature. I will go to them first if I ever get another panther.

I have two cage from them, a 2'x2'x4' and a small one, but the lock on the small one have broke after only a week, so until i moved my cham in is big cage, i was using masking tape to keep the door closed. I now been using the 2'x2'x4' about 1 1/2 month with no problem, since the lock is not still break on this one, i'm still thinking that they are good cage, except for this little problem. At lest on the big one, there is 2 of them so if one of them break, there at least a another one the keep the door locked...

Ive heard the latch issues also. I am careful and easy on my stuff so I dont think I will have any problems. Ive heard about LLL's plastic tabs coming off and breaking also, and Ive had no issues with their cages either. All these mass produced screen cages are kind of flimsy if you ask me. But they are our best option both for animal husbandry issues and price point.

go to home depot to replace? i built my own cage and spent $1 on a magnetic latch that would be impossible for a cham to open

great

great review Tex, what a boost of confidence for me and the quality of the unknown product!

great to know! i have the xxl large DIY cage for my veiled ...just havent set it up yet cuz i just moved and dont own a screwdriver  lol but im going2the store to get a tool set today :D

I have four of them and 50% of the locks are broken. This is not due to being over stressed or abused, their locks are just crappy. Generally I have felt them " clog up " just before the broke so I think it's a lock manf. issue. Other than that I really like the cages and the price is great.

They're ok cages. All latches on my cages broke. It is also starting to rust in the back which is making the screen break.. I really like the cages chameleonsonly offers.

This was just a review of a sponsors product. Not a who's got the best cage thread. It was meant as a help to people who are trying to decide between a LLL or DIY cage.

Question; are the DIY cages a large enough screen size that a large male panther can climb the screen? One of mine keeps trying and losing his grip in his Repti-Breeze. I was going to modify it with new coarse screen, but buying a new one would be an easier route...

I think they all have the same size screen mesh, but you can go to home depot or lowes and buy some 1/2 plastic mesh and add it to the inside to help him with his grip. I just did that to my brothers panthers cage yesterday. And i will do the same to my D.I.Y cage that i bought at the show...

here a link to the plastic mesh in talking about: http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs...productId=100384025&langId=-1&catalogId=10053
