    Veiled Chameleon Egg Laying Substrate

I've read about the stuff chameleon owners use to put in the laying bin. Playsand makes sensense because it's safe for kids. I don't know what kind though. I found this kind (in the image below) It's the moldable playsand. Is it OK to use? Also, is it OK to use the same sand for the next...

Using Nestle's Fitness cereal as mealworm substrate

Thank you jajeanpierre. Sorry for the late reply. I got some oatmeal so it should be fine. Oh, my mealworms colony is go8ng great! I have 6 beetles now, 10 or 15 pupa, and some young mealworms. Unfortunately I haven't found any other feeder insects. The guy who got me the mealworms told me he's...

Using Nestle's Fitness cereal as mealworm substrate

Is it OK to use Nestle's Fitness cereal as mealworm substrate? I crushed it and put it in the worm's box. This is the kind I used: I think it has a bit of sugar in it cuz it tastes sweet. Is that OK?

Just got my first batch of mealworms

I know they're not the best, but that's the only kind of worm I can get my hands on. It was very difficult to find someone who sells them (I had to ask someone who knew someone who knows someone, long story). Bug sellers are rare in here (Saudi Arabia). Of course I will continue searching for...

Just got my first batch of mealworms

Hello! I just bought 200 mealworms. They're smaller than I thought. I should mention that I have never EVER bred any type of bug before. Anyway, I did do my research. What I will do is smash some cornflakes, put that into a glass tank I have, and put the mealworms there. My questions are...

What fruits and veggies are safe for female veiled?

Quick update: A chameleon owner (not on this website) told me he/she feeds their chams some boiled egg whites (they're also feeding them hornworms and other varieties so that's not the only thing they're eating). Are boiled egg whites safe?

What fruits and veggies are safe for female veiled?

There has been a huge shortage of bugs, and I'm scared that Alphys will starve..I held off feeding her things other than bugs because I wasn't sure what was safe for her to eat. I currently have bananas, oranges, tangerines, carrots, cucumber, and apples. Are these safe? Also, how do I feed her...

Alphys Sleeping (also asking about mood colors)

It's all right. Any advice/suggestions are welcome! Age: I'm not sure. I was told she was 2 years old. But that came from the guy who said she is a male 'Brazilian' chameleon. She' around 12 inches so I assume she's an adult. Where I got her: from a pet store. I know pet stores are not the best...

Alphys Sleeping (also asking about mood colors)

Alphys is usually green unless she's basking (she turns dark) or when she's exposed (not hiding, she gets light or neon-ish green).

Alphys Sleeping (also asking about mood colors)

So Alphys is my first female veiled chameleon. She's been with me for 27 days (almost 4 weeks). I bought her a large Ficus tree, a tall hibiscus plant, and a ficus bonsai. I usually let her sleep in the ficus tree. Here's a picture of her sleeping. I read that if a veiled chameleon's colors...

    Freeze Dried bugs

So I bought 3 bags of freeze dried grasshoppers on the day I bought my chameleon, Alphys. The pet store guy said they were "essential". Thanks to the many advice and suggestions I was given on this forum, I realized that guy was wrong. However, in a pinch, will freeze dried bugs be safe for...
