    UVB Bulbs

Only thing I could see that would improve it would be if it had a built in timer for each type of light, and one power cord

    DIY 3D Foam Rockwall.

If you grouted the background why would you need to paint it? Or was the painting part actually "detailing" or highlighting the rocks? I'm going to be putting together a new enclosure for a bearded dragon and was thinking of making a 3D rock background in the same way. But paint didn't cross my...

Optimus' big new home! - Build Thread

Just a couple concerns... The enclosure is made of particle board which will swell and rot in no time flat once it gets wet.. all the exposed edges, seems, cracks, etc will have to be sealed with silicone.. Easier to do it now then have to build a new enclosure 3 months down the road

    Setting up misting system nozzles

I've used the wedges before, They are alright if you're installing in the corners.. I've just been cutting a small "X" in the screen and gently pushing the nozzles through, then threading the nut on the nozzle secures it. I have a double sprayer in the middle on the enclosure... I have a...

    Holding my panther?

Nice slow movements, keep up the hand feeding, he'll get used to you.. slowly move your hand towards him from underneath, keep an eye on him, if he puffs up or starts gaping don;t pull your hand away right quick, just stop moving it closer and if he calms down move a little closer, if not...

    UVB Bulbs

The solar Glo is a mercury vapor bulb, they produce both heat and UVB, the sunray produces both as well.. The CFL coil lights are typically weaker and the UVB deteriorates very quickly.. The reptisun UVB T5 HO are usually what is recommended on this site.. at 12" from the UVB bulb you shouldn't...

    UVB Bulbs

T8's and T5's are similar but the T5's are brighter (more light not UVB).. Unless they specify UVB they don't produce any.. Round incandescent bulbs and r-types do not produce UVB either. Some coiled CF bulbs do produce UVB, but again, if not specified they don't.. Mercury vapor bulbs produce...

Not pooping...how long is too long?

I'd go for about 30 minutes for a soak. A tall sided dish with a vine/branch/wire on the bottom for him to hold on to is a good idea.. just as long as the water is fairly warm and by the time it has cooled off would probably do it. Just don't make soup out of him, and just a little water, don't...

    Self Introduction

When you say "basic fluorescent tube for UVB" do you mean just an every day bulb from the hardware store? Or is it specifically designed for UVB.. The bulbs you get at the hardware store do not produce UVB, you need one specific for that purpose such as a Reptisun or Arcadia.

    Vet visits

The norm around here is to have at least one fecal exam done once a year to check for parasites.. Prescribing drugs is part of what a vet can do, but the most difficult part of prescribing the drugs is to find out EXACTLY what drugs are needed and finding the reason they need the drugs in the...

Not pooping...how long is too long?

He'll go when he's ready as long as there is nothing wrong. One month of no pooping would be a sign of something wrong.. My panther has slowed down his eating/pooping lately, but after 4 days he let one drop that would put me to shame.. I can't imagine what it would look like after a month...

    sand problem

There is actually a grading system when it comes to sand, some sand comes sterilized.. But don't, under any circumstances, use sand as a bedding for a cham.. I used to use reptile carpet in my little exo-terra enclosure since there was no drainage system and it would absorb some water.. I would...

Not pooping...how long is too long?

Honestly... A month is too long, I'd start worrying after about a week, two at the absolute most, I would have him to the vet ASAP

    sand problem

Substrate in general is frowned upon for chameleons, they can ingest it and cause blockages.. As far as sand goes, I'd leave it in the bag.. Sand gets everywhere, and may end up in his eye or in the digestive tract..
