Hey everyone!
My husband and I have recently started a reptile rescue organization based in West Virginia. Right now we are just focusing on finding homes for unwanted or abused reptiles in the West Virginia area, but if we are able to make this a success we are hoping to spread throughout the...
Funny as it sounds, my adolescent male veiled cham has started leaning off the side of his branch in the middle of his cage. He isn't favoring a particular side, and he is totally healthy. Ive tried researching it online and I didn't find anything other people have posted about their chams doing...
Yea, I figured it out. I took everything out of his enclosure and put one thing back in at a time while he was in there (usually I take him out so I dont scare him) and found out he was bothered by the red leaves. Thanks anyway :D
I dont have a ton of time right now, Im about to help the husband with dinner and Ill post the form later if we still cant figure much out but more than anything I was wondering how would a cham usually act if hes afraid of his enclosure? Also what would cause him to change lighter than when hes...
Ive noticed that when I take my chameleon out of his cage so I can clean it he actually turns lighter rather than darker. I put this to the test today, I had to clean his substrate so I took him out of the cage (light colors, no change) my husband held him while I took out the substrate then we...
I thought of that too, but he has seen the camera before and usually doesn't have a problem with it. He did back away from it the first time I took a picture of him and he saw the lens move, but Ive taken a few of him seance then with no problem.
Also, when I checked on him before I turned off...
My new baby veiled chameleon, Axel, is just so adorable! Ive been very careful not to stress him, but Ive recently started taking him out of his cage every once in a while to hold him and see how hes doing (any abnormalities in his scales, bumps or torn claws. The works) He actually seems pretty...
I should say so! I cant wait till my little baby veiled is old enough to just eat the big ones. I know I can just cut them up and all... But I cant bring myself to do it! Its just so gross!!
Thanks :) The price for the worms is much better than what I had found, but these sites still only ship one day shipping right? The price for that is still a bit steep for us.. Do you know of any others?
Well, funny thing is Ive been looking for a commercial dripper for a while now, this is the first Ive ever heard of the Zoo med one. :p I just finished my hand made dripper tonight, so I would guess give the new valve a try and if it doesn't work send me a message and Ill give you a step by step...
Zip ties were actually exactly what I was planning for the outdoor one. lol I would only need to take it down and store it once a year, so it wouldnt be too much trouble to just buy more after cutting them down. For the indoor though Im definitely planning something a bit more permanent, but...
My husband and I have been going crazy trying to find small superworms for a reasonable price! Of course, we live in WV where reptile keepers seem to be few and far between, so all our local pet store carries are crickets and large supers. Does anyone know of a supplier who would sell small...
Oh.. I hadn't thought of that. Well, I know I'm going to have to use PVC for my outdoor enclosure, it gets cold in the winter here and the snow and ice would probably damage it if I didn't make it collapsible for storage. Ill just have to see how my outdoor one works out and then Ill decide if...
I know, it seems like a cham's whole life is dedicated to burning themselves :(
It must be the brand of bulb I have, but its really not putting off any heat at all. I could almost grab the bulb. (Repta glow? I think?) I was more concerned with UV burns. I think its a lot like sun poisoning...
He seems to have the habit of hanging by the mesh directly under the light. Im pretty sure the uv bulb brand was Repti Glow and it was advertised as UVA/UVB but it didnt say much about spectrum. Its the long tube lite with a hood, if that helps?
Also basking temp is about 85 at the highest...
