ZooMed Little Dripper

With regards to the above subject - does anyone else find this stops dripping after a duration of time - despite there being the majority of water left?

I have 2 of these and my daily experience is finding these dripping nicely for the first 30-60mins then having to increase the flow. Not ideal when I am out all day!

Anyone else got the same issue, or experienced it and got a workaround in place?

unfortunately yes. i have the big dripper and it is no better.

i dont know exactly what causes it but i imagine when there is less water, there is less pressure to get out - so you need to open the valve wider and wider... which now having purchased one makes it less useful to me.

if you are in a bind id just use ice on top of the screen or a cup with a whole in the bottom. i know it sucks having bought the dripper but thats the fastest work around. otherwise maybe open the valve more than you would to start with so it will run longer (in theory).

the workaround i chose was... i got an aquazamp with a mister and a raindome. hah. good luck!

Mine does that also. Not a big fan. Cheap valve is what i chalk it up to. Are there better valves out there?
Also i get either on or off and very little in between.

I know exactly why it stop dripping to solve the problem remove the cover the air gets all sucked out as it drips and it creates a vacuum inside the container and the water will stop to drip it happens to my drippier all the time until you take the top off. Let me know if it fixes yours

yes take the lid off. the vaccum created after a certain amount of water is poured out stops the flow.

no experience with zoomed but my flukers dripper is working great!

Yes, try taking the top off and also monitor the little valve. If you use tap water, even with reptisafe, a mineral build up will start.

I've never had a problem as long as I leave the lid a bit "loose". I want it on there because with doggies in the house I'm never sure there won't be a "run into the cage stand" event and that would at least slow the flow if it were knocked over.

I used to have a problem with mineral build up. One more reason distilled water is my friend.

By leaving it loose air is still being let in and therfore not creating a vaccum there really should not be a big prob with mineral buildup

They have a bad valve on them. I attached a second valve (airline valve for fish tank). I leave the dripper valve fully open and have the airline valve adjusted for a perfect drip. The dripper now empties out at the same rate until it is empty.

My lids are off on both of my drippers and the problem remains. Looks like I'll have to fit a better valve. Zoo-Med products are generally good but disappointed with this.

Well, funny thing is Ive been looking for a commercial dripper for a while now, this is the first Ive ever heard of the Zoo med one. I just finished my hand made dripper tonight, so I would guess give the new valve a try and if it doesn't work send me a message and Ill give you a step by step for making one like mine. It cost me about 4 bucks all together. Good luck!
