I'm confused. Do you mean "pooping" on you? Also, what is the container? Looks like water. If so, that is not a good idea. A feeder trough is fine, but you need to be real careful with leaving standing water. Most Chams do not recognize standing water as a water source, but they also...
I know some people Mist and other also use a fogger to keep humidity up, but how do you get rid of excessive humidity? Has anyone tried "active" de-humidification?
In an enclosure or terrarium, I wonder how something like the below would work in maintaining a lower humidity (or at least keep...
All the comments above are true. Banded is the way to go. Cleaner, more easily digested, active and do not smell!!!
I also use Josh's Frogs, just ordered more tonight! (y)
Measuring humidity can be tricky. Where do you put the gauges I asked? I did some thinking and asking about the forum and found that if I found the location in my enclosure (also glass) that would be as close to the room temp and humidity I could more accurately track it. More simply put, I...
Young Chams seem to like the "hanging" on the screen. My did it ALL the time. He grew bigger and doesn't do it nearly as much any more. It was rather scary as I was worried he would lose his grip and fall..
YES!
(Well a version of those anyways. Here's how I did my sticks: Still holding with no issues! The hangers are screwed and wire tied for security. I used them like I did so the sticks are all removable and replaceable for cleaning.(y)
True, but most people simply instruct or tell people to use the foam directly on the cage without instructing to use some sort of barrier to allow removal. So when I stated it is a PIA to clean and remove I was referring to a wall that is permanently bonded to the enclosure. I'm not a fan of...
Besides there being more nutritious food for your cham than meal worms, how about cup feeding or "trough" feeding?
Here is my prototype. I have since made a new one out of PVC pipe.
No night light at all. If it's that cold then a ceramic heater is best. You want nothing that emits any form of light that the cham can detect. I'm not sure I agree about the rest of the stuff you said, but staying on topic, no lights of any kind at night.
I believe you, but mine didn't. For me to do what you did, would require me to try and mate up same two connectors, (two make or two females-I don't specifically recall). It would make sense as it would make it impossible to hook the wrong two up. Could you have a unit that missed some...
Not the "machined" super high quality lights many claim are the best, but I like it! (y) The reflector design is also different than I thought. I don't think I have ever seen a reflector that wasn't smooth. Let us know how they work out. If it's not too much trouble after you finish the...
My math must be different than yours.
As an example:
$170 - The name brand (24")
$70 - Odyssea (24")
$30 - Arcadia UVB
$9 - HO T5 bulbs Based on the bulbs I buy which have worked well and last a long time. Bought a set Jan of last year, still have the original bulbs working in my...
The problem with more "permanent" solutions is that cleaning is a PIA. You can't remove what you've installed to clean, and remodeling is much harder to do.
If you have good suction cups and perform regular cleanings and inspections, then they are safe. Some one else also pointed out that the...
Suction cups are your friend. I use them to hold up my terrarium wall. I have 4 large good quality suction cups holding this wall up. I have to use an object to break the suction when I remove it for cleaning or electrical work. Held up well for several months now.
Backlash? Its a debate as old as many others. Just know that there is a big difference between a terrarium and tank. (one is for fish ;)) but some "old timers" have kept them in tanks back in the day , but it was difficult due to the limitations. Each has a purpose based on the owners needs...
Did you verify all the plants were Cham safe? Why did you go with a 36" hood over something a bit bigger?
The whole setup looks great. The large plant in the front is very nice IMO. The only downside is that the more we put in these enclosures, the less we see of our little friends inside...
