    Stand recommendations

Good topic. I hope you get a lot of comments/ suggestions. One of the reasons I haven't gone to a larger cage is I don't have a good stand for one. Here is the one I have. This is with my smaller terrarium on it several years ago. It's similar to this one, (I couldn't seem to find the...

Is my panther chameleon being a BUTT?? Or should i just let him be?

Slow and steady wins the race. I feel your pain, my little Sherman was the same way. Do you blame them for not wanting out a nice environment? Hand feeding, followed by letting him crawl on your hand to get to the food followed by slowly acclimating him to you handling him. He's very...

House light bulb Vs. Basking bulb

Very true and well stated. I agree with everything you say. Value is in the eye of the beholder. Who are we to say the OP will see (or not see) value in something? In this case I couldn't justify the value in it for several reasons, maybe the OP does. It's about giving choices. FYI, My...

House light bulb Vs. Basking bulb

Please reread my post. I clearly said after the fact about the hood is that you should "Just be sure to factor in a better UVB bulb or T5 if you need it." I gave no false information so please don't try and discredit my post. You know nothing about me or how much research I do so don't go...

    Lllreptile? Good or bad?

Its not censorship if it's just following the rules. Got it. (y) In all fairness to you and all moderators and admin, I don't recall any removal of comments that I can tell (I'm sure there may have been) and you guys give us a pretty wide range to express ourselves. I just find it odd we...

House light bulb Vs. Basking bulb

LYR is a good resource, but before anyone tells you that their stuff is "The best" and all other stuff is crap - search for Odyssea lighting. Same thing, a fraction the cost. Just be sure to factor in a better UVB bulb or T5 if you need it. It drives me nuts when some people steer new people...

Thoughts on cham in the living room?

Mine is in a glass terrarium in the area between the kitchen and Family Room. Lots of traffic. They get used to it. I also have two large (90-120 pound) dogs that roam the same area. No issues that I can see. Let that poor Cham become part of the family!

    Lllreptile? Good or bad?

The reason it's being done is irrelevant, and I'm not saying I disagree with it. If you prevent anyone from speaking their mind because you don't like what you hear, it opposes an idea, concept, it could potentially alter revenue or put you in bad graces with another entity your catering to...

    DIY Vines

I have two concerns about this: The metal rods rusting in the moist environment. The material holding moisture and any bacteria, or crap. I don't know how big an issue moisture would be or if the nylon will dry up quickly like wood does, but the rust potential doesn't sit well with me, not...

House light bulb Vs. Basking bulb

Seems like its all based on opinion and what works well in a given situation. I will go out on a limb here and say that after reading this thread, I picked up a few things: Halogen or incandescent each have their place and both work well LLLReptile wants to sell "Reptile Lights" and not...

    Sherman has arrived!

LOG ENTRY 4-22-17 Sherman's is 6 months old! Weigh in, a new feeder and A NEW TRUST  Sherman is 6 months old this weekend. Its been a crazy few months with my new cham. The learning curve is pretty steep with so much having been redone with his terrarium and husbandry from my...

Can Dubia and crickets be kept in the same containers?

Well I got my order today. The Dubia are tiny. I've already lost my "fear" of handling them, but I wash my hands like crazy after I touch one. (y) I'm going to get a separate small container to keep the test batch of crickets and Dubia rather than chance my entire population of 50. So for...

    Issues with shipping a chameleon...

She's a big girl! Looks healthy. Congratulations. (y) I'm going to be a jerk for just a moment, but I really hate vertically taken video. What are people thinking when they shoot cell phone video like that? Really?o_O

    Scared Chameleon

If you want him to get used to you, you have to keep him in an area where he can see you and observe you regulatory. If he's secluded in a room by himself, your presence will always be a shock to him and getting him use to you will take much longer. After a week or so of being in the same...

    Meal worm feeding dish

I must be lucky. I've had two Chams that ate from a clear critter totes similar to this, but costing only $4-5 from the local pet store. https://www.amazon.com/Lees-Kritter-Keeper-Rectangle-Lid/dp/B0002APZO4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1492824166&sr=8-1&keywords=small+critter+tote Chams will shoot...

Will this fixture work with my chameleon

A fixture is a fixture as long as it works. Don't let others bully you into thinking you have to have brand X to have good lighting. If the hood you got accepts and properly powers a UVB lamp, then it will work.

Advise needed on using a fan in enclosure

Wow, thanks for the input. The terrarium is plate glass if I recall. I'm not sure I would be willing to drill the sides. That's a mod you can never go back from. However, drilling a few 3"-4" holes on the back panel may increase air flow, so the idea is viable. I'll need to think on it.
