Hello, just wondering if my Jackson’s chameleon, Jacky, is gravid. She’s had a total of two births. How many births do they have after mating one time? Thanks!
I gave a good friend a baby Jackson’s chameleon who is knowledgeable of reptiles. It died at 3 weeks old, just after I gave it to her. It seemed “malnourished,” but I can’t seem to make sense of it. Any ideas?
Long story short: bought a female Jackson’s, came home from vacation and found nine babies. They are two days old today. Mom wants one, I want a male. Is there anyway to sex them now? Thanks!
Yes, we have a herp vet that’ll look into it. When I pinch it, she runs faster, indicating that it either hurts if makes her feel comfortable. Thank you for your help!!!
If she starts to dig, but fails, IMMEDIATELY go to the vet. She can die from egg-binding within 48 hours. Please research Follicular Stasis. I see it in many Petco/PetSmart sold chameleons.
Be very careful with store-bought females. I bought two females from petco, both unfortunately died from a condition called follicular stasis. It's an egg binding condition where the follicles in the chameleon don't become eggs, creating a blockage. It's caused by malnutrition in early life...
This usually isn't indicative of a chameleon of your age, but I encourage you to research follicular stasis. It's a type of egg binding where the eggs aren't fully formed or are misshapen. It's caused by poor nutrition early in life (like at a stupid petco), followed by proper nutrition in the...
