you dn't have to "waste" the larger crickets, i breed them and it's actually pretty easy... just anoying sometimes :P
As for dusting i add a small amount to them and shake them til their colors go from brown to light brown. and you don't give vitamins every day do you? as for the calcium, is...
chameleons fall all the time in the wild and are very... graceful fallers.... that sounds dumb but it's true. (more jumping then falling... defensiveness and what not)
This COULD be from something in the room scaring him, not uncommon. Or possibly over extending and missing a branch.
But...
By greenery i'm assuming you meant real plants? Veiled chameleons tend to nibble on leaves and such.
as for feeding, if yo uhaven't already, check the link for the care sheet camimom linked in her post so you know what size to feed and how often to supplement, even though people have already...
ALMOST FORGOT!
http://www.chameleonnews.com/04AugSnow.html
that's a good article about plants and cleaning/repotting them in better soil.
Ok... now i'm off.
Keep up the Cham lovin! :)
this all depends on where and what exactly you get.
if you get pothos, make it a golden pothos and both mine cost a total of 5.50 6.75 with extra soil for pots.
Grown pothos plants will cost a little more but normally come with a nice pot thrown in with it. (at least at my local shop)...
Exactly what i was going to say.
Chameleons don't really need a substrate as much as they would enjoy a drainage system for excess water to run off into. This helps prevent bacteria and mold (that seems redundant to me).
Try to stay away from silk plants though, as they absorb the water...
I'm sure you know this already but, make sure the crickets aren't too big for him... i can't tell exactly how big he is... just a concern. :P
Make sure you not over/under supplementing him as well. :D
Chams grow pretty quick so take pics of the baby while you can. It's just like having a...
i get sad thinking about the day that karma will move on... and he's not even a year old yet. :(
just to answer your topic i cried when my friends beardie died, i helped take care of it... it was kinda like it had two daddies looking out for him, but he ended up passing one night and i came...
okay back :)
the falling aspect is just going to have to be monitored as chams fall all the time in the wild... as a defense mechanism so they can fall out of a tree and scurry away while the predator is left dumbfounded as to what happened. (i know they do it... i don't know what the...
Here's a link to a form if you could fill it out... just for more information for us to go off of.

This isnt a "normal" thing for chams but it does happen in screen enclosures, if that's what you use. A lot of times they get snagged and the cham...
Yea babies shed kinda all at once usually. as they grow they shed less frequently and patchy. if they ever have a problem shed mist some warm water lightly on them... not hot but warm. loosens it up to make it easier. normal misting usually takes care of it on it's own though.
cheers on the...
chameleons do yawn... so it could be that.
Could also be too warm or thirsty... illnesses can cause them to keep their mouth open for extended periods of time. ie: respiratory infections. just had a scare with my veiled the other day... turns out he was just too warm even though i have 4...
Just looking at the second image i'd go with Rafiki... the monkey from lion king. :P that's first thing that came to mind... and i'm tired so it made me smile. (originally i was going to suggest simba :P)
i have very little experience with female veileds, have only known a friend that had one and i never personally worked with it... just admired :P
So i dont' know at what age they can start laying eggs... but do you have an egg laying bin ready? It may mean she'll be laying soon. Just first...
as long as it's not infected i think he'll be okay til then. i just hope it doesn't get worse. sucks that you can't just cuddle him and tell him no rough housing.
only way i can relate to you is when i trained dogs i worked with a chihuahua that went through surgery on his back legs and i...
Was there something he could have scraped it on while climbing when you were sleeping? since he's been shedding he could have tried to get shed off and scraped it across something.
I get sad when i look at the picture... somebody fix it :(
wish i had a closer idea to what happened. my only...
and i do assume you've had him a while and you know how to take care of him... really not trying to sound rude because i'm a newbie, i just know what i've read on caretakers blogs.
it just looks.... scary as HELL to me and i'd be wetting myself right now trying to get him somewhere that can...
