Yawning?

I just brought this baby home. This is my first Chameleon so I will probably have tons of questions. She looks super raggedy while going through a shed but as she rubs on the rough vine she opens her mouth like a huge yawn! Is this normal or is she having some sort of painful issue?

If she is shedding, then it is normal to open their mouth and move strange to try to break the skin and get it off.

chameleons do yawn... so it could be that.

Could also be too warm or thirsty... illnesses can cause them to keep their mouth open for extended periods of time. ie: respiratory infections. just had a scare with my veiled the other day... turns out he was just too warm even though i have 4 basking areas to choose from all at different temps... he's a goose butt. And since she's shedding she'll open her mouth to loosen it and make weird poses and scartch herself against stuff... chameleons are cute... but yea there's a lot of different things that go into account. :p

also could be mad if you're near her just because she's getting used to a new home and all that... chameleons are pretty territorial creatures in general. Never handled a baby that was but it could be possible?

I'm sure she's okay but if you're curious there is an "ask for help" sheet located....
https://www.chameleonforums.com/how-ask-help-66/ here.
and pics are always nice as well. Just let's us on the forum know all the conditions. once you post the info, until something changes you can copy and past it to a word doc or notepad so you always have it handy and never have to "hunt" through past posts to find it. And like i said she's most likely fine, this is for future use... if she persists with it after she's done shedding and what not.

and never hesitate to ask questions we're always here to help, even if it takes a while :)
