I teach lessons on a variety of different reptiles as part of my course for learners of foreign language, the herp lessons are interesting and break-up the slog of grammar. Anyway, whilst preparing a lesson on chameleons and hunting for a decent video exemplifying different colour change I came...
Judging by the photo she's not dehydrated, he eyes look perfectly fine, not sunken in. I was exactly the same with my little guy for ages after I got him, always worrying over him for nothing. Your girl looks great.
I can't speak as someone who's bought one, but based on what I've read on here it's been quite effective and successful, plus the price is apparently quite reasonable.
Yes, give that item a very wide berth, a few months ago some of us were discussing a water fountain that went by the same name that was having great success, but I think someone saw our praise and bought the bad one that you mentioned. Unfortunately their chameleon's health went downhill rather...
I tried the saran wrap method but it failed miserably, so I bought a cheap shower curtain, but it to an adequate length, I left it a little longer than the enclosure so that I could tuck it under the viv and keep it relatively tight. I attached it by threading very thin wire through the eyelets...
Maybe try less picking her up straight away and more placing your hand in her path when she's walking around. I found this an effective method to get my little guy used to walking onto my hand, as if helping rid him of the fear of contact with me. She may not take to it straight away and may...
How old is she and how long have you had her?
I've had my veiled since he was about 3 months old, and for a long time he always shied away from me whenever I tried to handle him, it took time, then one day after a few months he suddenly really took being held, like it was out of nowhere and I...
Yeah, I can't remember which member it was, but someone posted a similar thread pertaining to the same issue. I feed my male veiled butterworms occasionally and he's fine, it seems like plain bad luck when a cham breaks out in a reaction. I don't think it's anything to worry about, is your...
It's pronounces "miolneer".
I'm so sick with jealousy, he looks so damn cute, I plan on getting a juvi male ambilobe in July and I can't freaking wait, but the place I'm getting him from doesn't release photos of the sires, much to my chagrin.
He looks a picture of health, my little guy used to HATE getting sprayed, but then I started using hot water, which cools down to warm when it comes out of the sprayer, so he's a lot more relaxed when I do it now. Don't be too surprised if he doesn't eat when he's shedding, it's a common side...
Has anyone on here had any experience with rose chafer larvae as a feeder? I bought a box of them today out of curiosity and I'll offer my little Ziggy one tomorrow and see how they go down. A guy at the schop where I bought them said he feeds them to the panthers they have there at the shop...
Damn, I am so sick with jealousy, over there in the US you have what seems like the best vendors for chameleons, here in France there are vendors but not many specialised breeders, I'm blown away by what I've seen over there, truly.
Precisely, my little guy was going ape before his upgrade, THANKFULLY I already had the adult enclosure, it just needed putting together, etc, and since going in there he's cool as a cucumber. Based on everything else you put in your message, I think that's the most likely cause for his behaviour.
Yeah, that's a male, and if I'm judging the size right based on his development he's probably eager for more space if he's ferverously climbing the walls of his enclosure, mine did exactly the same for a week before I upgraded the little guy.
Haha, true, I've lost count of the number of threads on the subject I've seen since coming back to the community. But even if it is a female who does need to lay, wouldn't a female require a larger enclosure than 24" at about 6 months old? Depending on the size of course.
Reading your description of the behaviour (going to the bottom a lot and such) and the pattern description I thought it may be a female as well, but I will admit to having had a similar experience with my own male veiled last week and some of the week before, he was restless, antsy and always...
Yes, be very sparing with wax worms, maybe even avoid giving them to your chameleon at all, they're alright as an occasional treat, but I mean VERY occasional, I don't give them to mine at all because compared to other feeders they contain no real nutritional value.
Yeah, or just good ol' running.
Based on what I've read extreme caution should be exercised around these creatures, their sting can measure up to 7mm and their sting is measured among the most painful after the bullet ant.
