Not sure if there are many computer gamers on here, but speaking as one I'm pretty sure that was the inspiration behind the Cazador from Fallout: New Vegas, I'm so very happy we don't get them where I live.
So, I'm in the process of setting up my XL Reptibreeze into which I plan on putting my almost 6 month male veiled. Up to now he's been in a medium sized Reptibreeze with a large Lucky Reptile Thermo Socket reflector on top with a 60W bulb (for basking) and a 25W heat cable, which I had wrapped...
I have 3 sides of my screen viv covered by a shower curtain, it certainly helps with the humidity. I attached it by threading wire through the holes of the mesh, which fortunately didn't require splitting the mesh, it's a bit of a fiddle to attach, but totally worth it, as it also prevents water...
Yeah, I'd be very careful with that, make sure there are no climbing purchases anywhere within a few inches of the light, at least just outside of his grasp.
What kind of chameleon do you have?
And by "water systems", do you mean misting systems? If so, you'll get plenty of replies favouring either AquaZamp or MistKing, I have a MistKing starter setup for mine. Such systems are a little pricey (usually around $100 and about the same in other...
My little Ziggy had his second shed yesterday as well, I noticed his skin looking a little pale and he wasn't all that hungry yesterday morning, and after coming home in the afternoon he was covered in curled ribbons of dried skin. His first was only a few weeks ago so I was surprised he shed...
I use schefflera in my viv, ficus benjamina is also a good choice but they can produce sap that can cause irritation to the chameleon if it gets in the eyes. Also pothos is a safe choice too.
Damn, sorry, the advice I gave out was based on my experience with my old female, before she laid she ventured to the bottom of the enclosure a few times to dig around a little before she laid her eggs.
Hopefully someone with a little more experience on the matter will contribute, it's been a few years since I last had a laying female, but I hope my words lent you a little peace of mind, but I'm sorry I can't be of more help.
I may be wrong, and if I am I certainly hope someone corrects me, but I'm pretty sure females don't lay immediately when they start digging. If she's only just started digging and hasn't laid I don't think it's a huge worry, I think she's exploring and prepping the laying area available.
Most chameleons will have a reaction to new additions or changes to their enclosure. I don't think it's anything to worry about, I put my young male veiled into a medium sized Reptibreeze a few weeks ago and he still acts cautious and as only just started to explore it.
Increasing his humidity should help the process, and a good spray down with warm water will help too. If the humidity in his vivarium isn't high enough he'll continue having trouble fully shedding. They also like to rub against branches and vines to aid the process, so make sure he has plenty.
Yeah, I've contacted them to enquire about their drainage trays because I don't think they come with a water collection tray so I want to be sure I get one the correct shape/size in regards to curved or squared corners.
