    Chameleon Sleeping

My veiled cham decided to sleep upside down on the top screen of his enclosure last night. I've never seen him do this before. Is that normal?

New to keeping chams need advice on cage setup?

Congrats on getting the baby veiled. Your set up looks nice. Only question, is in front of the lights on your enclosure, it looks like you have two round gauges. I'm guessing Temp and Humidity? I don't think they will do you much good on top of your enclosure;)

What do I feed my new chameleon?!?!?!

I use three different supplements with my cham. Calcium with out D3 5 times a week. Calcium with D3 2 times a month. And a multi vitamin 1-2 times a month. I picked all these things up at Petco, and something called repti safe which is a water treatment. I really like mixing up my cham's...

First Shed and a funny story

I got my cham (Dax) about 3 weeks ago, I was expecting him to shed anytime now. So on Sunday he decided to start his first shed! My girlfriend (Kelly) and I were out of town when he decided to shed. We talked Kelly's Mom into looking after the cham while we were out of town. I got an amazing...

    Petsmarts Care Guide

The petco that I buy crickets from has ONE very knowledgeable employee. He helped me get all the basics set up. He also pointed me to this forum, and told me to do research here before I even thought about adopting a cham. When I started looking into Cham's he told me not to house them like...

I know this is horrible but ...

Ok now I'm Jealous, I'm about to drive 15 miles in a mild blizzard to go pick up some crickets, meal worms, and wax worms (I'm running a few other errands as well like picking the GF up from work). I'm out of crickets, low on meal worms and he's never tried wax worms so i thought i'd get him a...

I know this is horrible but ...

I'm one of those people who live in a cold climate. I'm in Montana less than 40 Miles from the Canadian Border. (current temp 30 degrees and snowing) The enclosure I'm building is mostly glass, I've got a 3" screen section all the way around 2" from the bottom and an interchangeable...

I know this is horrible but ...

Also a great idea! I'm so glad I posted this question, I almost didn't out of fear that people would just criticize my Cham's current living arrangement. I live near a river so next time I'm out there I'm going to grab a bucket full of rocks. Even if it was healthy for Cham's to eat dirt, I...

I know this is horrible but ...

WOW that link was GREAT!!!!! Thank you soo much. I'm going to quote my favorite part that helped me the most in case someone else is in my situation. "First, I have found that it is best to fully plant each glass terrarium with live plants, much like you would for a pygmy chameleon...

I know this is horrible but ...

Thanks! I think I'm going to line the bottom with paper towels, just to make cleaning easier. I didn't really think of it before, but the potted dirt from my two plants will probably help quite a bit with the humidity. The pots are tall enough I really haven't had a problem with crickets...

I know this is horrible but ...

Would you suggest putting anything down instead of substrate? Paper towels, newspaper? I think the moist substrate is the main reason my humidity stays fairly consistent (80-90 right after misting, 60 for about an hour after misting, then it averages 40 between misting). I just want to make...

I know this is horrible but ...

I'm in the process of building a really nice enclosure for my chameleon Dax... but for the time being I'm stuck with a all Glass 40 Gallon Terrarium with a screen top (:(I know I'm horrible and you should never keep a Chameleon in an Aquarium but until my build is complete, about a month, it's...

    Would a lilac thrive.

Thanks, I think I'll try the hibiscus instead. Do you know of any other flowers that work well in a chameleon terrarium?

    Would a lilac thrive.

I was looking at the safe plant list on flchams.com and I found lilac on the list, I've got several lilac bushes around my house, and Dax (my 2-3 month Cham) likes chilling on them when I bring him outside. I've got a jade plant in his enclosure right now, with some fake vines and a branch. I...

    Enclosure Design

That makes perfect sense, I think the crown molding will look nice. I'm going to do four walls and no roof (for ventallation), and mount a power bar to one of the walls. Then set my lights and misting system up on timers so I can leave for a day or so and not worry about it.

    Enclosure Design

Thanks!!! That helped a ton. I've been slightly altering my plans as I do more research, like i'm going to slightly angle my floor, I was planning on painting it, now i'm going with the dark stain and verathayne, that looked great. My girlfriend sugested that i build a copartment above the...
