I've been doing a little research on these controllers because I think I could really benefit from one as I'm still having a little trouble with the basking temp. I was wondering a few things I'm hoping you can help me with... so when it reaches the max temp. the system turns your heat bulb off...
Holy shitake mushrooms what a whirlwind the past 2 days have been with this crazy little guy!
Day 1 was all about making sure the basics were met, but of course still very exciting!! Everything from opening the box carefully, seeing him for the first time, getting him in his enclosure, getting...
Love this photo because I bet it was incredibly hard to capture, I think it depicts the chameleon personality, and I love the contrasting colors in the background and the focal points! Just LOVE this photo!!
Thanks, haha! I know the name of the game is avoiding stressing them out so I'm trying to do everything I can to avoid any unnecessary stress and whatnot. Adjustment periods are rough on us all :P
I have seen a lot of people who line the sides of the enclosure with plastic, but my worry with that approach was not getting enough air flow. Since I'm in Richmond, VA, I don't have any humidity issues, and was more concerned with proper air flow to avoid URI...do you think this sounds about...
Thanks! Especially it being day 1, if I get remotely close he almost immediately goes into his hiding spot so I guess he'll get used to it over time and we'll both get into a routine.
From my research, and I know this sucks to hear, this is what it sounds like happens to the reptirain systems around 3-5 months after using them. This seems like why most people recommend the Mistking systems. I think if I were in your shoes and you were worried about getting water everywhere...
Hey guys, so my cham just arrived this morning and I realized as it was time to turn off the lights this evening that I didn't really know how to signal to my new little guy to find a good spot to sleep before it got really dark. How do you guys do this, especially early on until they get used...
So sorry to hear about your loss! I have no doubt at all you did everything you could. With all animals, humans included, sometimes things just happen that are out of our control. I really hope Dr. Doug got you some answers about what caused this. My heart goes out!
Haha thanks! I was so happy to see a healthy poo and healthy white urate today too. I never thought I'd be able to find and see all of these signs on day one, so it's helping me ease my worries, especially since they're so shy at first and he runs and and hides as soon as he realizes I'm in the...
He's naturally very shy and getting used to his new home. I'm very happy he ate a dozen ish small crickets and I caught him basking. I haven't witnessed him drinking but I've been misting heavily, letting the enclosure dry out entirely in between, and I have a dripper going.... so he better be...
My new little guy is definitely shy and getting used to his new home so I'm giving him his space. Opening the box from FL Chams this morning (about 45 minutes ago) he definitely wanted out so I didn't want to be selfish and stop for a photo shoot. Probably would have gone terribly anyway because...
Live and learn, haha. While the silicon fully cures I installed all the other pieces so once the cham settles in I won't have to stress him with a mini construction zone. Thank you so much for all your help and support! It means sooooo much to me!
SUPER helpful! Thanks so much! I'll definitely look into this to ease the worry. I seem to have it really stable and at proper temperatures right now. Plus I added some more vines and branches, woohoo!
I think I'm ready for him! Cannot wait to post pics!
Thanks again to everybody! (for ALL...
I've been researching and preparing like a crazy person, but it still feels like this is happening ultra fast. Maybe it's just a product of doing so much reading on these forums and blogs, but I feel like I'll never be fully ready for this little guy coming tomorrow. That's also just my...
Thank you so much! Good to know I'm right to worry about him climbing on the top of the cage. This young little rascal already has me worrying and he's not even here yet, haha!
