I'm basically new to the forum and I don't have a chameleon yet, but I thought I would share some photos of my pets anyway ;)
Bindi is a bearded dragon and my only reptile. She is also an aspiring photographer :D
Next are my rats, Crash & Riot...
And then we have the dogs...
Thanks bocajan and reptimom. Kiwi was from a different Petco that I worked at. I am the reptile specialist down here and I won't be ordering any cham's simply because we do not have the ability to properly care for them at the store. It's also a college town and though I am a college student...
Sorry I didn't keep you all updated! Unfortunately she died at the store before she gave birth and before I could take her :( I was pretty upset and stopped reading the forum. I'm back now though and contemplating getting a panther cham from a member of the this forum whom I met at work today.
I'm going to do my best making a baby set up in the back room, but I don't know what else to do. Nobody there knows much about chameleons, I probably know the most because of all the reading I've been doing so I will try to educate my co-workers if they will listen. If you have any ideas let...
Brad, I think you are right. I didn't even think about the car trip she would have to endure. As much as I hate to say it, a gravid cham is too much for me to take on right now. I just wish there was more I could do for her. So I will wait for the show in July and hopefully I will find one...
Wow, I got a lot of good advice. I'm still torn...if I were going to be working at this Petco I wouldn't worry as much, but I am going back to school four hours away in August. The only people I trust to take care of her are quitting as well. I know Petco will just replace her with something...
Well as most of you know, I was planning on getting a gravid Jacksons from Petco. I have been doing some more thinking and I would feel more comfortable getting my first cham from a breeder. Flchams will be at the show in Atl in July so I have emailed them asking what they will have available...
Thanks! She doesn't have a dripper or misting system at Petco obviously and she seems to be doing well, but she won't ever drink when I mist her cage. I just want to make sure she is healthy and comfortable in her new home.
What size UVB bulb and fixture do you use? Also, I have read that the reptisun 10.0 is best for reptariums because of the thick mesh, but I've also read that too much UVB can harm a chameleon. Should I get the reptisun 10.0 or 5.0? Oh and one more question...I can't afford a misting system...
Would the 38 gallon reptarium be too small for her? I'll probably get the 65 gallonl, but I was just wondering because of space issues. Do reptile expos usually have good deals on supplies? FL chams is going to be there so if I haven't already purchased her cage I may get one from them if...
I can't buy her without taking her home, I already asked. I am working on the supplies now...I think I am going to try the milk jug method for the babies. Can I get like a 48" reptisun 5 and put it over all of them?
I know they are not great for reptiles. There are a lot of knowledgeable employees, but corporate has a set way of doing things and they refuse to change. Trust me, I've been trying to fix some things and I'm not getting anywhere. Petco will not be caring for the babies...unless she has them...
Ok, I feel better now that I know she is acting normal for a gravid cham. I'm still trying to decide on a cage. I like the reptariums because they are lightweight, easy to pack (I'm a college student), they can be washed in the washing machine and they are black. I'm going to be feeding...
The only info. I can get on her history is that she's been there approximately 6 months, was housed with the male at first and they think she was captive bred. I've been watching her for about a week and have yet to see her do anything other than change positions. I just started working on the...
I'll try to get a better picture next time I work. She rarely moves, I've been told she eats her crickets at night so I guess she moves then, but she stays in the same place during the day.
There is a reptile show at the end of July, I was going to wait until then to take her home because...
Thanks for the info. Is it common for them to have 30 babies, that might be a little overwhelming especially since they have to be separated. If there are any more experienced members that live in Georgia who would be willing to help me out by taking the babies if she is gravid, let me know...
Actually, one of the managers told me that there is a possibility she is gravid which is why they won't sell her right now. They kept her with the male when they first arrived at the petstore, but they fought. After that she started to put on weight....so if she is gravid she is probably about...
