Plastic and fiberglass mesh/screen will not hold up against the crickets. Fiberglass mesh will also be harmfull to your chams feet as they get caught in it. If I was looking for a "softer" material I would look for plastic coated mesh (like already suggested) or I might try a can of enamel that...
Sorry i had to post and run.
(sommoner12)- Yes he did look just like that as he climbed down.
(Brad)- I think I was wearing a normal white T or maybe a grey longsleve. Im thinking it may have been something about the paper towel or the motion I was making with it.
I guess Ill have to...
So I was cleaning out the cage today and I think my cham challenged me! He was on the top while I started "sweeping" the bottom out with a paper towel. Then he started to come down and turned bright yellow and green. His body was flat as can be like I rolled him with a pin and he yo-yoed his...
Wow you guys/girls really get detailed with the feeder feeding! I use a comercial dry and wet gut load. (Flukers I believe) I'll put in some potato, carrots & orange if I have them around. A friend of mine recomended to just use Enfamil Baby formula. It makes sence because it has everything you...
They stopped importing them back in 90' because they were placed on the endangered list. Some time around 00'-02' they were taken off the list but I dont think we ever started importing them again. As of right now I am not sure if they are on the list or not. I beleive they were endangered...
I have been seeing them go for $400-1,000 but dont want it bad enough to pay that kind of money. Heck I want a Panther but wont spend $300 on one just because they are a beautiful pet.
I live in IL. (60586) so I dont even know if the shipping would be affordable from MO. I do however...
Has anyone come across a Monkey-tailed skink/prehensile tailed skink? I have been looking for one but the only breeders I have found want a rediculous price for them. I know we dont import them anymore and their numbers in population are dropping, but dont see how that justifies charging an arm...
I use a water bottle with a pin hole in the bottom or a handfull of ice cubes. He still gets misted with warm water everyday though. I made a fogger but he didnt seem to like it for some reason.
I dont have a detailed DIY for you but do have an idea for ya. I had a old sewing cabinet that I turned into a cage with some styrofoam, paint and aluminum screen. (crickets eat threw plastic and fiberglass ;))
I bet you could find a free cabinet of some sort on craiglist!
Ha Ha I've actually never talked to my locals about forums. It is funny that you brought up the pro level though. The one shop that breeds a lot of nice reptiles actually gave me wrong advice when I bought my first cham years ago. She sold me the wrong calcium powder and my cham got a deficiency...
I will never buy a pet from petco/smart. I prefer to suport my local pet stores because they give far better quality and price actually. I do buy the "extras" from petsmart though like dog toys and fish food or lights. Now that I think about it I guess I did buy a pet from petco. I got my clown...
Thanks everyone!
I actually joined to get more info about the "other" chams out there. All the local reptile stores by me only stock veiled and sometimes Jackson. I am pretty set on getting a carpet or panther in the future and see lots of people here have those.
So for now I guess I...
I've actually been looking on craigslist lately for a new cham. What sucks is there are a lot of people trying to push off their.....now problem, pet because they cant be responsible. The comment about the glass tanks is so true as well. All the ads are for a cham + fish tank. Its a shame people...
Just joined today and wanted to say Hi to everyone. I have a male veiled about 3-4 months old and have been looking around for another cham. I stumbled across this forum while I was searching for another cham and thought it would be a good forum/source of info.
Anyways Hi All!
