Anyone ever cut some bamboo off a live plant, and used it in their enclosure?
I have a huge patch of bamboo in my backyard, about 6' tall and about 1/4" to 1/2" thick, seems like it would work great for pathways?
The bamboo is green as it grows, but when it dries it out it turns brownish...
Thanks, it's no big deal I am not in a huge rush to get the chameleon anyways, I figure the longer I wait the better anyways since I painted my enclosure.
I sunk the pot down into the bottom of my enclosure (see img below) so I need something around 36" tall for my enclosure since the base of...
They're a knock off from the original reptisun, made by a different company, but they should work just fine.
Why not go with a regular reptisun though? Same price probably.
Do I need a grow light, or will the reptisun 5.0 be enough lighting?
Also, do I need to add anything to the soil to help keep the plant alive, such as miracle grow?
No luck, but I will be out of town tomorrow, it's my day off so I am going camping up north. Thanks for the help though, if you happen to see anything while you're in town let me know but don't go out of your way to look for me.
I was just about to ask about the plastic cover, just got back from walmart and figured the plastic would block the UVB so I removed it. I mounted the reptisun bulb in there, and got my heat light setup, looks nice!
I have the enclosure completed, finised screening the top today, and got it moved into my new apartment.
I am about to go pickup a light fixture, dripper, and a bulb for my spotlight for heat. Going to shop around for a plant to get started growing on my patio until I get the chameleon.
I am...
Will planting a fake plant in a pot of real soil help with the humidity? I want to do this so the soil can catch the water from the dripper, and hopefully help with the humidity issues.
Arizona is known for it's dry summers, I am considering using a humidifier in the apartment as well?
I think for some it's just easier to not risk anything, but if you have had no problems I think that's good enough for me to know that I can just use real branches.
I am hoping to get a juvenile aged cham, probably 4-5 months. I am going to keep looking, I am not in any rush. I still need to finish the enclosure, gotta get the lighting mounted and get my reptisun bulbs ordered.
I found a few schlefferas today, but they're not tall enough. I am considering using a fake plant as my main plant in real soil, and then hang a pothos to help with humidity.
