I don't think she is advocating giving blanket advice. She asks what the circumstances might be under which we should suggest 10/12% over 5/6%.
I totally, utterly, fully agree that it is always better to help people understand the reasons behind why certain choices are made and have made some...
Recent photo of my male Nosy Mitsio's enclosure 4 months post setup:
Female mitsio's temporary enclosure. She will be moving into an 18x18x36 soon and I will probably use this to house a Kinyongia boehmei.
This is basically what happened in Korea and by most measures was a great success, but I think it was dependent on 2 important factors:
1. Convenient, readily available and *widespread* testing. There was no shortage of testing facilities or kits here. Most people were able to get tested for...

If the virus ends up mutating a lot like the flu, the immunity Dr. Fauci refers to may be useless. Thankfully a lot of scientists are saying Covid19 doesn't mutate much.
It hasn't really had a big "daily life" impact on most people in Korea, aside from having to wear masks all the time (one lady scolded me for not wearing a mask in our apartment elevator) and going out a lot less. Most Koreans still go to work every day, no businesses have been forcibly closed...
Just curious - who is Robin?
I don't think anyone is saying that chameleons won't do fine in a screen enclosure. I just don't agree with someone who says they won't do fine in a glass enclosure. As I said in my last post, it's not about screen vs. glass, it's about ventilation and humidity...
I think it can be misleading and potentially even harmful to discuss things in such binary, black and white terms - glass vs. screen, 6% vs. 12% UVB tubes, fogger or no fogger. It's more helpful to talk about appropriate ventilation, appropriate UVB levels / UVI, appropriate humidity.
Glass in...
Foggers can be very beneficial but I think it depends on a number of factors. I am not an expert on this topic by any stretch of the imagination, but I have read that a specific type of fogger/humidifier is needed in order to provide benefit to chameleons, and some may even be harmful to...
If you have a misting system like a Mistking, have a lot of live plants or a bioactive enclosure, and mist sufficiently before lights out, you won't receive that much benefit from a fogger.
Exo Terra glass terrariums are another good option that many people use. A lot depends on your budget...
I don't think anyone on these forums can tell if that's mouth rot based on the current condition. As you said, it is just a small lump on his mouth. Thankfully, none of my chameleons have experienced mouth rot but I've seen plenty of photos and the tissue decay is evident. Your chameleon could...
those reddit guys are batshit crazy ... maybe the subreddit is owned by China.
I read the entire thread and am still confused about this ... someone care to fill me in?
"Playing guitar .... Actually ... learn how to play guitar ... cause right now you suck at it."
Laughed out loud at this and my coworkers gave me some side-eye :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
I think even tap water will be fine for your chameleon and misting system temporarily, though the contents of tap water vary from location to location. I can't say with 100% certainty though - maybe someone else who knows more about the effects of tap water minerals/chemicals on chameleons can...
If you have money to spend you can buy an RO or RODI filter. The output is pretty much the same as distilled water, especially with RODI. It might cost you a few hundred dollars though. Personally I think it's worth it if you are using a misting system and need to refill a water reservoir...
This is incredibly ironic considering their attitude towards glass enclosures. Glass enclosures (I'm referring to glass terrariums with slits for ventilation near the base like Exo-Terras) are not even some wild, revolutionary idea. I would say they are used quite commonly now for keeping...
