Yeah, like Decadancin said, I'd change to a lower wattage basking light & keep it on longer. I have mine on 12 hours a day (I'm from the uk, so I need to keep it on as it's not as warm as the us :p)
Also I don't think the viv itself will be helping. Ventilation will be a big help in letting the...
I'm not an expert with chams, so please don't do exactly as I say! But I currently have a Panther & I don't do anything to keep the humidity up at night. I don't spray/mist him gone 5:30pm because any extra moisture in there any later than that won't have evaporated before lights out, which will...
I'm currently housing my 7 month old male Ambilobe Panther in a wooden viv which I've modified to have a mesh top, 4 big vents (mapvents from homebase) on the sides and 2 smaller ones on the top front (same brand as the bigger ones), and a mesh door. He seems a lot happier now in this viv than...
That seems like a really complicated system for my liking aha :') Probably because a lot of this is new to me, despite the fact we've got several reptiles. The chameleon is definitely the most complicated of them all to get right :p
The title says it all really. Since I got my first cham a month ago, there hasn't been a week gone by where I'm not trying to improve my drip system. So I'd love to see how you've all got your drip systems set up, no matter how basic or complex they are.
Also show where the water drips down to...
I'm not sure exactly how many he normally eats, but I think it was around 1 or 2 medium sized locusts each day or every other day, but now I think he's slowed down to about 1 locust every other day. He shed today though so he's clearly growing :) But yeah, I'll make sure to weigh him every week...
1. 2' x 2' x 3'
2. Ambilobe Panther
3. 7 months old
4. This is the setup
This is what I'm using now to collect the water. There's 4 in total, 3 medium and 1 small.
And this is Optimus himself :)
On a side note, there's all them locusts at the back but he doesn't really seem all...
aha yeah exactly :) Optimus can be a right pain though, anytime I want to go into his house for whatever reason, whether it be to empty the bowls or clean out his poo & dead locusts etc, 9/10 times he comes rushing over to me & before I can finish what I'm doing he's running up my arm aha! So I...
It seems like, until the final enclosure is required, most people go for the small container/bowl at the bottom of the enclosure option. Well, thanks for all your input :) I can't wait to get started on making the big corner viv soon! :D
Ah good idea! I've rooted around & found 3 medium sized water bowls like yours & a small one. Dotted them about the floor, safe to say the floor should stay mostly dry now :) I shall inspect the damage tomorrow evening & report back with the results :)
Dumb question #1
Okay so I've finally made myself a dripper (very basic, just a used & cleaned out smallish Ribena bottle with two tiny holes, one at each end) and I've noticed that if I let the water drip down & eventually end up in the plant pot it just drains right through & into the bowl...
Oh I'll be sure to be posting lots of pictures over the course of my time here on this forum :) Thank you! He's so friendly, always wanting to climb on me when I open his door aha!
Okay I couldn't resist getting a couple of pictures of the little fella :') So after misting & feeding him this morning I decided to snap these two pictures :)
(sorry for the large images. I couldn't manage to upload them as attachments on the iPad :()
Okay so this is where I intend for the viv to go. I hope to buy a new, slightly smaller TV & to wall mount it at the end of my bed so it's out of the way, then shift the drawers up so they're level...
