Show me your drip systems!

The title says it all really. Since I got my first cham a month ago, there hasn't been a week gone by where I'm not trying to improve my drip system. So I'd love to see how you've all got your drip systems set up, no matter how basic or complex they are.

Also show where the water drips down to, to show what your cham drinks from (eg a leaf or branch) and how you managed to direct the water to that area. Maybe even add a picture of your cham enjoying a drink too! :)

The point of this thread is to give myself and anyone else inspiration for their own setups. So go for it! Can't wait to see what you all have :p

I got tired of refilling the drippers, and my pet sitter is too short to reach them without standing on a chair. So I automated it with my misting system. Now whenever the mister runs it fills up the dripper at a rate I set so I can control how full it gets and thus how long it drips without worrying about overflow. You just have to set it so there is a lot of resistance for the mist coming out or the system loses pressure and the other misters don't work as well.

Here are the accessories, each comes in a pack of many for a few dollars at Home Depot - T line connector and misting valve with adjustable flow rate:
full

Hook it up to your dripper (in my case chocolate milk bottles with holes poked in the bottom) and voila!
full

I'll probably hot glue a fake leaf to the rubber band to make it more aesthetically appealing. The rubberband is just to keep the tube shape going to the dripper so it doesn't knock it over if it straightens out over time.

I'm all for automation!

Great idea! Unless someone with a better system pops up, I may have to do something similar myself :)

Dayna, that's perfect! Thank you for posting pictures. I'll be going to the hardware store this morning. :)

Here is what I use. The pics are
1. the mag pump and reservoir (5 gallon bucket)
2. the timer to turn the system on and off
3. parts of the system that I get from Lowes

A single mag7 pump feeds 32 cages currently, the first drip as strong as the last in the line. I recently installed an RO unit and a 32 gal reservoir (heavy duty Brute trashcan) but the concept is still the same. The system has been in place for 3 years. I flush the lines with a mild bleach solution a few times a year and it seems to work great.

I'm still working on getting everything dialed in, but I took the idea like ferritinmyshoes did and I'm having one of the automated misters fill up a big dripper that I've so far zip tied to the pvc pipe. I have to tweek the amount of water that is coming out of the port that is feeding the big dripper. i'm just doing test runs to see what happens. Running it for 15 minutes, and i'm only getting a 1.5" of water in the dripper. i'm wanting more so that it will just freagin run until a later misting session. Although so far so good. Unfortunately for the additional questions, i don't have any input YET. my enclosure is currently lonely.

It's nice to see people's ideas getting shared around :) good luck with getting things fully set up & ready for use :)

On a side note, what sort of mesh is that? That's the sort I'm interested in using with my big build!

I just PM'd you with where I got the pvc coated 1/4" x 36" hardware cloth. I actually bought enough to do 2 enclosures based on my 6'x3'x6' dimensions. 100' total. IMO, its all well worth the cost. I love how worked.

I'd like to know too. Or you could just share it in the thread.;)

I'm not sure if it is OK to promote a "non sponser's" website around here, so that's why I haven't put the supplier in any of my posts. I'll PM you also.

Tell me if I'm wrong, and I'll post the supplier.

So, my valves arrived in the post yesterday which meant I could make a proper dripper instead of using an utterly butterly tub with a pin hole in the bottom :D

After rooting around the house looking for something else, I found this lovely piece of wood. So I drilled a hole through it...

That allowed me to slide this piece of tubing through, like so...

All that's left for me to do is clean it, dry it & figure out how I'll mount it to the side. It may or may not get put up today, we shall see :)

Okay so my dripper is now fully up & running!! Works perfectly & Optimus has a great spot to sit on his vine having a drink :)

This is it close up...

And this is how it looks in the viv :)

that really looks great.

Thanks! :D So glad it went as planned as I want the viv to look as natural as I can get it & that means incorporating as much of the plumbing & lighting into the design so it's hidden yet functions just as well as normal :) Hopefully my dripper will help to inspire others :p
