Hi guys,
I just want to get some info. on some other panthers' diets. I have a 8 month old male panther who eats like a hog. He eats everything I put in his cage, crickets/dubia roachs/ even the occasional grasshopper. I feed him approx. 10 large crickets a day, and a couple roachs and...
Hello fellow cham lovers, just wanted to get some info. on grasshoppers as feeders for my 2 panthers. They both seem to love eating them. I can always get their attention with a nice juicy hopper. Are there any negative effects to them eating grasshoppers as a snack or as a staple food source?
Thanks Jann and Laurie, I will defiantly fix this supplement issue. What calcium w/o D3 do you recommend? I will also try warm mist showers several times over the next few day and hope the showers will knock this thing out. Do you guys feel this is bacterial? He is acting perfectly normal...
Okay, thanks for the info guys. I defiantly think my humidity would be on the low end of good, and not too high. So, would you say humidity issues could be causing this eye problem? I am gonna lower the the basking temps, get a hydrometer and probably a humidifier tonight. Also, do you think...
Current Problem - Woke up this morning, and noticed my male panther's left eye has some yellowish fluid in it! I misted him heavily right when I noticed and he seemed to like it, but it is still holding that fluid. He is due to shed today or tomorrow, could this be part of the issue? Seems like...
huh, It's surprising that you can't use cat food. I've read all over the net that its recommended for dubias, even have a friend who uses it exclusively for his colony. It's always great to have actual info. from serious owners with real experience, thanks alot! Love this website. Really want to...
I've been keeping a colony of Dubias for about 3 months. They are doing great, and have even starting reproducing. Unfortunately, the cat food I use to feed them keeps getting mold on it. I have to clean out their Rubbermaid pretty often. Does anyone have any ideas how to stop mold growth in...
Sounds like a good plan, thanks for the info! I have offered crickets and roaches from my hand many times to try and get them feeding out of my hand, but neither one has ever gone for it yet. They just look at me like "Are you kidding? I'm not about to try that!" lol They defiantly acknowledge...
Thanks for the fast response. The info is really helpful and what I was wanting to hear. I hypothesized that they would be alot confident with age, and this is exactly how you are describing it. What was your handling schedule or routine when your chams were juveniles?
Hi guys, I have two 6month old Ambilobe Panthers, 1 male and 1 female. I have been slowly handling them a few times a week for 3-4 months. They both have become slowly more tolerant of me, but still get stressed pretty easily.
Anyways, My question is do Panthers become more confident and...
Hi Ellron. What size is your enclosure? It may be too big for him to easily get to the insects. I had a similar issue with a young male, and I moved him to a smaller enclosure and he greatly increased his eating frequency. You could also try just moving him into a very small feeding enclosure...
First off, I am sorry for your loss :(. Diagnosing sudden accidental deaths can be difficult and frustrating. I recently lost a G. Rat Snake in an equally bizarre way. It bugged me until I decided to actually do a necropsy on him, and found he had two broken cervial vertbrae, from a misguided...
I don't have pics, but I'll try and post some later today. It's a pretty straight forward assembly though. Only took me 30 minutes to set up everything. Just connect the hoses from the pump to the bubble wand, and then submerge to pump in a 5gal bucket. Have as little slack in your line as...
Theres alot of discussion going on about Mist system vs. drip system, and I've been weighing out the pros and cons. So, yesterday I finally decided to make a homemade drip system instead of forking over the $120+ for a Mistking setup. Well it has turned out awesome and was half the cost. I just...
