That's what I thought at first too, but I've adjusted them and re-adjusted and then some more and nothing improves. I can actually twist them all the way around without any snap. But I can also see when they are positioned correctly so that's been ruled out as the cause.
As for replacing...
I bought the light kits from the Kammer's at Chameleonsonly.com. They sold me two hoods with the bulbs packaged together. The Reptisun 5.0 bulbs are new and came in their original boxes. They are 24" bulbs. The hoods came in a package with the label "Coral Reef Aquariums F-57251 24 1/2...
I just got two brand new lights shipped to me, hoods and bulbs. They are Reptisun 5.0's. Both just flicker and never fire up or stay on. Whatever the problem is, it must be the same on both. Did I get two bad hoods or two bad bulbs? Or what the bleep is the problem? I've waited 15 mins for...
Only 3 months. Liddy told me it's okay to take him out once a day as long as he seems happy and not stressed. I'm not sure, I want to be careful and have read so much about avoiding the handling of them.
Thanks! I love this little guy already. Got him from Liddy Kammer. Can't wait to see how he looks in a year. When I opened the box he climbed out and up my arm. Super friendly. I didn't handle him all day because I know better... When I go near the cage he climbs toward me and claws at...
Okay, that makes me feel better. Yeah, I've heard that misting should not be done at night to avoid mold and allow the cage to dry a bit. I only did it because I haven't got the humidity up yet and it seem really dry.
I just received a 3 month old Nosy Be male this morning, shipped overnight to me. When I got him, he was alert and friendly. Within 10 minutes he was drinking water from a leaf and then started immediately eating. He ate 6 crickets and was very active all day. Seems to have good color and...
And it's my understanding that Dubia's can NOT climb up the walls of the container like most other common roaches (correct me if I'm wrong)...which I think is great!
The lady at the reptile store said something about dropping their tails too. But is it all Gecko's that can do that or I wonder if Leopards are more prone to it.
Well, I'll have to check into the Crested. Thanks
I know this is a Chameleon forum but many of you also have Gecko pets and knowledge. My 11 year old son (very responsible for his age) is getting a Gecko and will choose either a Panther or a Leopard. Both seems to be comparable in habitat and care, needing a more dry enviroment than some...
I don't like the crickets either, too jumpy and can escape. Tiki Tiki (sponsor) sells a dubia roach starter colony. I'm planning to give it a try. I think they will be easier to manage/control, and maybe less stinky (I hope).
Interesting that you posted this thread...because I too was at a Petco today and noticed a veiled chameleon for sale. They had it stuck in a tiny glass aquarium with the windows all fogged up from moisture. The poor little guy was sitting hugged up against the glass looking out at me. The...
I would imagine the flies are a little more tricky to handle. They would probably escape from me before I can get the cage door shut and be flying all over my house. Would be fun to watch the Chams eat them though. I'll give it a try!
Thanks for the info. You made some good points. I didn't realize that the crickets would bite the chams. But won't the crickets just jump out of the dish anyways? I know that I can put cricket food in the dish to keep them their but I would imagine that some would still jump out if not eaten...
I just purchased two panther chameleons this week. I did a ton of research before making my decision about breeders. All of the sponsers on here are good. Look at the list of sponsers and you can click on links to their websites. I've had great experiences with Screameleons, Kammerflage...
I have two baby panthers coming, one is about 3 months old and the other is 4 months. I am buying crickets to prepare for their arival. I have to check with the breeder for size on the crickets between small and medium.
Should I set up the cages for cup feeding? Or should I just plan on...
Hello, I'm new to this so I've got many questions to make sure I'm taking proper care of my new chameleons that I am preparing for.
I know that I have to gut load the crickets with proper nutrients. I stopped at the local reptile store and they gave me one container of Fluker's High-Calcium...
