I saved his life!!!

So on Sunday I moved, and Howard was the last thing I got out of my old apartment. I was in a bit of a hurry and he had been hanging out on his plant just fine for about 30 minutes, so I decided to just take him on his plant in the car while my girlfriend drove. He was fine for about the first 30 seconds and then he made his way to the bottom of the plant so I picked him up and put him back on top of his plant. As soon as he got back on the plant he darted for the bottom again, got on the floor board, and began crawling up under the dash. When I saw this I immediately grabbed his back half and tried to wriggle him out. I made my girlfriend pull into a parking lot immediately. Then I only had him by the back legs and tail, and then only by the tip of his tail. I was afraid to grip him tightly and had to watch him slip through my fingers to his certain death under the dashboard of a '98 Subaru forester. By this point I was pretty hysterical, cursing and calling him like a dog to see if he would come out. I was about to start crying like a little girl when a truck pulled up next to us and a guy got out with a tool box. I asked him for a screwdriver and explained the situation. My girlfriend said it was probably the weirdest thing he had ever been asked a screwdriver for and he said no. (I personally do not want to know what that was.) I began ripping out my dash as fast as I could. When it was off I looked up into the blackness and there he was, nestled in. I slowly reached up in there and grabbed him, and after a few bites and cutting my hand on something in there he was out. He was immediately put into a smaller cage that was in the car. It felt like a ton of bricks had just been lifted of my back. We got to the new apartment, I set up his enclosure, and I thoroughly checked him for injuries. Needless to say my little buddy is just fine enjoying his new 2nd story view of forest. What did I learn?

NEVER TAKE A LOOSE CHAM IN THE CAR!!!!!!

Here is a picture of Howard this morning.
