I'm only using the blue-fish for t-5. The led has its own controller. It took a long time to get the controller and now I am waiting on the enclosure to be back in stock.
Dug back into research mode and figured out how to do what I want. I will use the bluefish led controller which has the 0-10v dimming option for T5 bulbs. I have ordered a 48" t5 dimmable dual bulb retrofit kit and the controller. Also picked up the bulbs from a site sponsor, LLL, today...
I would suggest breeding for traits that make them more beneficial as feeders. Softer shells, higher production, ect. The really technical stuff such as calcium is pretty expensive to test unless you start doing the chemistry yourself. Those are the type of things that are very welcome. If...
I'm going to vent some frustration here. So earlier when I contacted the aquarium site, I've them extensively with great customer support, they informed me that their retrofit t5 kit would work with the herpstat. Even gave them a link. Then I heard back from Herpstat guy, another good guy I...
Please give me your thoughts about this idea. I have decided to go ahead and get the dimmable t5ho kit for my uvb. The enclosure will be a 4x2x4 dragon strand. Should I get a 2ft, 3ft, or 4ft kit? I've read the academy lesson about UVB...
I agree if you are buying new. I’m using an extra. I wanted to point that out because with the newer versions coming out people will be looking to sell their old ones. Since the primary market is the reef version there will be a lot more on the market. Great way to save money for people looking...
Any prime can be dialed in to a particular color spectrum. True the reds are the best for plant growth, but the other colors are just as necessary. Green is the only one that isn't used.
They are just LEDs. The optics in them are 60 degree to create a good diffusion. The ability to fully control them from quite dim to very bright is the appeal. I have not kept a chameleon since they became available, but am planning to do so. I will give an update once there is enough data...
These are the new models so you can probably find the older for cheap. They are basically the same just a few less lights. I use the hydra 26 HD and they are great.

I have the lights you are talking about. I'm setting my enclosure up using the AI Prime as the backbone. The lightning effects are pretty annoying but the cloud effects are subtle. They re very easy to setup.
I am trying to keep as much extraneous light out of the equation. With the technology now, I will have to use a uvb bulb that operates in the visible spectrum. I have contacted one led company about custom made 300nm leds. That will certainly require calibration with a uvb meter. While...
First off, I appreciate the responses thus far. Very helpful. Further critiques would be very welcome, especially people who have tried this and failed miserably. I have done quite some research in the last 24 hours and here is what I am looking to do. My saltwater aquariums are pretty much...
Great stuff. I'm doing research on it right now. As for the Dragon Strand, they look like the thing to buy for an adult. I am correct that I will need a juvenile cage and an adult later down the road?
