36x24x36 DIY Build

You are doing an awesome job!!! Can’t wait to see it done!
Thank you!! You and me both lol. I'm hoping to put the screen on tomorrow if I have time.

What's under the cover?
It's an Infiniti g37s convertible. As much as I'd like to claim it as my own, it's my mom's car. My parents have been nice enough to let their son in his late 20s come over and slowly work on a large reptile cage in their garage.

I am in the process of buying a house and dont have room to work comfortably on it where I am now

Damn dude, very nice job. Looking forward to seeing the end.

Just sold our g37, was a 2012 though. Fun car to drive!

Nice squat rack too! Good luck with your new home

Thanks man! Definitely been a pretty slow and hard working process so far.

Yeah I've driven it a couple times. Wouldnt mind owning one myself lol but those weights and rack havent been used extensively in years ha. Probably since back in my high school football days.

I appreciate the good luck wish! Just gotta get through to closing, then we can actually enjoy the process lol

They probably enjoy the company. Besides, who wouldn't want all the fun of a chameleon with none of the work. I'll stay tuned.

Screen going up (petscreen)

Once the screen is finished I'll be putting wood trim to cover the staples and ensure a good seal.

Then it's on to the fun of attaching branches, plant pots, etc

Screen is complete except for the top, trim is going up, and I've placed the branches/plant pots. Tried my hand at some of that great stuff foam but I'm not sure if it turned out like I thought it would.

Martin moved into his new home today the same day that we did. I still need to make a couple adjustments, fix the stand a bit, and put a couple more plants in there, but here he is in his "finished" enclosure:

Fantastic job... I am a little jealous that you can put plants in on the floor panel... A little tip is to use the clay pots and it will help absorb the water from the drip pan... :)

Oo good idea! Yeah ive still got to drill a couple holes in that pan so the water can flow through the drain i have in the stand. and add some weather strips to cover a gap that is present.

Might try out a hibiscus and caladium as my remaining plants to put in

Added a bromeliad and Aglonemia.

Just one more very small plant I think and then my next project will probably be building a better looking stand.

So question... Is he typically basking in the back where the UVB is? The UVB output is only directly below the bulb where the reflector ends... Does not spread out much at all. So if he is not basking in the back I would consider moving the UVB to where he sits.

He has been going all over it since moving him in there, but maybe spends most of his time on the high long branch closest to the door.

I moved the UVB to be directly above that branch now, but he moved away from it. A 6% T5HO in a dual fixture 9" above the branch shouldn't be too much UV for him, right?

No it shouldn't... Should be right around a 3 UVI maybe slightly less in the dual. See how he reacts tomorrow with it. It may just be the difference in lighting. See how he does waking up to it rather then you moving it while he was awake. Should be a different response.

He seems to now be on the lower branches from what I've seen today (i work 9-5 so I can't observe him throughout the day). Maybe I should try raising the UVB?

Well also keep in mind this is a totally new cage for him. If your at 9 inches in a dual your levels at 9 inches should be much lower then mine at 9 inches with a single. I would not lower it at all because you will lose even more UVI level. According to the chameleon academy a dual with a 6% would be 5 inches getting a 3UVI. No way to know exacts without a solarmeter 6.5 as your numbers will be dependent on your set up. And even the type of screen can impact this.

Is this fixture new to him as well?
