My house temperature really drops during the winter time. Should I be using a heat emitter, infrared heat lamp or natural moonlight(Exo-Terra Night-Glo)?
This would be my first time breeding crickets, it's been about 2 weeks since hatching day. Can anybody like guess an estimate from the photos? I'm just curious and thought it might be fun :D they're in an 18 gallon bin.
I'm curious about setting up two Reptisun 5.0 florescent T8 bulbs, but is that too much?? Or is there another way where I can get extra lighting in my enclosure without extra heat?? Thanks!
If you're not on a budget, I have come across some cages that have acrylic front, rear and bottom with screened top and sides. I'm not sure where I've seen them, but I do know they're out there. Sorry I wish I could have been more specific, but if you want to go that mile and find it then go for...
The large crickets do not pose any threats to the smaller crickets if theyre in the same bin. Depending on the size of your bin, I would remove the large crickets if your bin is small to give the smaller crickets more space; crickets do tend to die off little by little if it's over crowded(not...
With the information you provided, I would recommend replacing your 60w basking bulb with a 25w or no basking lamp at all due to the age of your cham; and if you are using the Reptisun 5.0 coil bulb then switch it to a Reptisun 5.0 T8 florescent tube. Also if you are going to have a basking...
Thanks everyone again for their posts, I really appreciate it. It took me just about 2 weeks to make small adjustments here and there and I think there's still possibly a little more adjustments to make. I will make adjustments accordingly as he grows bigger and then eventually move Kiddo into a...
I was watching Kiddo(3 months male Veiled) drinking water from the dripper; then I saw him choke and doing some gesture with his throat as if he's going to vomit, but no vomit. After he finished his weird gestures, his black dots and stripes appeared.
Maybe I have my dripper dripping too fast...
I would just like to ask everybody's opinions/comments on my enclosure set up. Are there too many sticks/vines or not enough? Are there too much foliage or not enough? Thanks everyone! :D
UVB cannot pass through any type of solid objects, but does bounce off surfaces. Depending on the thickness of the weave and the weave ratio of the screen can block anywhere from 20-50% of the UVB.
As BeBoSON said, it isn't much to worry about and as long as you're providing the...
I've tried to look for a thread with anything that explains what can happen to your chameleon if you dont have the correct/recommended humidity in the enclosure.
Can low humidity or lack of humidity cause any health problems or any problems at all to your chameleon?
I'm not sure how different is the feeding ratio between male and female, but my 3 months old male Veiled is averaging about 20 medium crickets a day(around 10 in the morning and around 10 in the afternoon. I do free range a few for him to maintain his hunting instincts :)
Many others here and I would recommend putting your chameleon in a screen cage to reduce chances of respiratory infection. My cham is recently going through a respiratory problem and I have him in a screen cage too, but maybe my humidity might be too high with too much misting.
I just found out that the vet that is closest to me is on vacation for 2 weeks! There are no other closer vets around my area that treats chameleons. What can I do to help my cham for two weeks till my appointment comes?? This problem here has been happening for a little over 2 weeks now and...
