How many crickets should I feed my cham??

My Cham is 4-5 months old now. I have been feeding her about 20 small crickets a day(suggested by you guys) and was wondering when should I step it up to medium crickets and how many should I feed her now, and when should I move to large crickets and how many should I then feed her..

Thanks

I feed my 4 months old as much as he wants. That usually amounts to around 20 crickets and 5-6 roaches. He will be eating some hornworms and silkworms in a few days when they grow a little bigger.

I would feed her as much as she will eat for the next month or two.. then cut back because at or around 7-8 months of age she can start producing eggs. The amount of food and temps she is being kept at can and most likely will influence that. Egg production at that age uses valuable calcium and nutrients needed to grow properly.

What are her current temps?

I was about to submit the same thread...
And how many times should we offer?
My cham is around 3.5 months... he eats 15 medium crickets in the morning...
and seems to be really hungry in the afternoons...
I tought it was not good feeding too much because the "successful keeping of veiled chameleons blog" says that chamaleones should eat 5 to 8 feeders per day

if your cham looks hungry then feed it. on a correct diet and if your temps and humidity is right you wont get an obese cham

I'm not sure how different is the feeding ratio between male and female, but my 3 months old male Veiled is averaging about 20 medium crickets a day(around 10 in the morning and around 10 in the afternoon. I do free range a few for him to maintain his hunting instincts :)

I think I will do that...
10 to 15 in the morning and 10 more in the afternoon...
Im guessing the afternoon meal should be lighter since it has less time to bask and digest...

For a female I would drop the amount of feeders to about 8-10 medium crickets now. Females can start producing eggs at 5-6 months so it's prudent to start cutting it back now. Then as she gets older she may only need to eat 3-5 large crickets every other day or so so she doesn't keep producing eggs.

You will also want to keep her maximum basking temperature in the low 80's, like 80-82*F. The combination of cooler temps and less food will keep her metabolism a little slower and hopefully keep her from producing as many eggs, or eggs at all.
