Would anyone be interested in a how-to on the fiberglass drainage floor? If not then I won't bother taking a ton of pictures of the process, but if someone is then I wouldn't mind doing it and making a separate thread to showcase that process.
Just a note, before you upload pictures if you right click them on your computer there is a "Rotate" option, if you click it to the direction you need to go like the one in your last post needs to go right then they will be right side up when you upload them.
Ok, I got some work done today.
These first 2 pics are showing the door. I got it sanded and a couple coats of the clear on it. I'm using semi gloss so not super glossy which is how I want it. It's still pretty light but it'll darken over time with UV exposure.

What about putting dirt in the bottom and actually planting your plants? Is that not ok still? It's something I was considering as I don't really like the pots just sitting in the bottom lol.
I'm going to get a drain from the hardware store and then use fleece and fiberglass resin to get the basic form of a slopped bottom, then I'm going to use fiberglass mat to build it up some. After that I'll coat it with some epoxy based paint (like they use to refinish bathtubs) and it should be...
Yes its extremely sturdy. If I had used these 3" screws from the start though I would not have had to use the blocks in the corners. Definitely have to pilot drill with screws that long though.
Hah, so far? Probably ~130 or so. It's a big cage though and I used oak wood. You could use poplar or something or pine and spend a lot less. If you aren't worried about how nice the wood is could even use construction grade 2x2's. I'm loving how its turning out though.
