Yeah he has black bars consistently. I'll have to do a full enclosure evaluation. He has a bunch of hiding spots and he sleeps in the same place every night. Should his basking light be more than 85 degrees?
So my ambanja Cham constantly has black bars. Temps range are 87 for basking and no lower thank 70 at night. Humidity no lower than 55%. Appetite and stool are normal.
Is having black bars normal for a ambanja his age? they're even there when he's outside.
Here's a pic from this morning.
Have you tried putting him in the shower? I'm new to to being a Cham owner but I've read that a shower could help clear their eyes. I think the humidity and water helps. Do so searches on the forum.
From my research 10-15 items a day is what your should be feeding at that age. Also a variety of feeders with either crickets or dubia s as the staple and various worms for "treats". Be sure to dust properly and gutload.
For example my 8 month old panther ate 10 large crickets, 1 med horn...
I did research for several months and spent about 30 days putting together my enclosure before purchasing. I'm a bout 3 weeks in so I'm still a newbie. One thing that is a little challenging is finding a balanced diet for your Cham. I'm also still trying to consistently get my Cham to drink. I...
Here's a photo of his enclosure. Let me know if you still think I need to rearrange the plants.
I did clean his cage on Saturday. The branches are zip tied so they stayed the same, I just moved the vines differently. Could it be he's still settling in?
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care? Ambanja Panther, male, 7 months and I've had him roughly 3 weeks.
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon? Only when carrying him from cage to outside. I get him outside 2-3 times a week...
So I've got a 7 month old panther and I've had him for 3 weeks and I wanted to get feedback on the vitamin plan I have him on. He seems happy, no stress just want to be proactive if changes need to be made....this was the recommended plan from the reptile shop I got him from.
Repashy -...
I went with a panther based on everything I read. When I purchased my panther I was prepared for him to be stressed with dark colors and not eat for days. But it was the complete opposite, I've not seen him stressed in the few weeks I've had him. I've handled him a little, cup feed since day 1...
I take my guy out first thing in the morning. I also mist the plant he hangs out in and drinks then more than he does in his cage. He seems to that the first bit of light he gets is actual real sunlight.
He has the normal 10-12 hours a day or artificial light. I was just curious if there was a certain amount of direct sunlight he should get. I guess the more the merrier.
I decided to take my little guy out this morning for his 1st outdoor sun basking. I cup fed him dusted crickets and a couple meal worms. He then proceeded to bask while I had coffee.
I noticed he puffed up a bit is this normal? Is it to absorb more sun?
How many hours of direct sun light...
