Let the cuteness overload commence! Can't wait to see these babies grow up into beautiful adults, because with their parentage they don't have any other choice :)
I'm happy to ship them up there - they are still in the box they were shipped to me in, so I can just leave them in that and put your address on it. I'm just asking $75 ($25/bulb) and you pay for the shipping. If you like this deal just shoot me a message and they are yours!
Thanks @Beman, I forgot the most critical detail! They are 34", so they fit in the 36" fixture. They are the perfect size for a DragonStrand Large Atrium!
Hi all! So I made a mistake and ordered the 6% Arcadia instead of the 12% I actually needed. I've got 3 brand new bulbs in their boxes (and still sealed in the shipping box!) available. These are perfect for montane species, they just won't work for me. I'm looking to just re-coup what I...
The Daytona show is simply amazing and beyond belief. I took my Mom there years ago and it probably took us 4 hours to wander through everything once. If you are impulsive you will have issues, but it was fascinating seeing all these creatures I had never seen before in my life. My mom is...
I just use the domes that you can get at Home Depot/Lowe's/wherever as well (because they are cheaper as well!). I think the opening is larger than 5", but it works just fine. I'm guessing you are getting a young panther cham from Kammer's, so 85 should be good. Just keep an eye on him/her...
First off, congrats on jumping into this crazy hobby! You are doing a fantastic job so far, and the Kammers have some beautiful chams, so don't worry, your new little one will be gorgeous and healthy! As for the basking bulb, I'd just take back that one that you bought and get your money back...
First off, OP, I LOVE that you named one of your crabs Thermidor - that really made me chuckle this morning. Also, I used to live in St. John, USVI, and once at night I saw a bunch of land crabs from the safety of a vechicle (thankfully!!!). They were gigantic and very intimidating. Such a...
I've been on here for about 13 or so years now, but I also keep learning, and like Kinyonga said, I've also learned some of those lessons at my chameleon's expense. It's fascinating to me how many commonly held beliefs have changed over the past few years as more and more keepers challenge them...
I'm not bioactive in my cages, but do you think I could get a colony of these rove beetles and put some in each pot that I have in there? So, a few in each pothos plant, for example, and do you think they would stay there? Think my husband will divorce me if I had these escape the reptile...
I was in a Petsmart and wandered by the lighting section. I stood and listened to a salesperson sell a $25 basking light to a couple of guys because one of their girlfriends needed it for her beardie. I was leaving and saw them in line with it, swung over and said, "sorry, couldn't help but...
This is well-deserved - you have come so far and helped so many people and you are joining the ranks of some truly incredible keepers. A hearty congrats to you!
Also you want to make sure you are really close to him because a bird can swoop down and nab him in a second. The natural sunlight is awesome for him though so great that you could take him outside!
Sorry I'm late to the party, but welcome to the forums! Remember, you are doing the BEST thing for your new little girl by coming here and asking questions. We were all beginners at one point, in your shoes, and we are all happy to help. It sounds like your new little girl has a great start...
I was just getting bloodwork done for a new job at a hospital and was talking to the nurse about chameleons (I have a 3/4 sleeve of my veiled Turk on my arm that she saw). She was talking about her daughter's veiled who is 8 and who she babysits. She described giving him warm baths and...
Also, tap the top, or the sides to knock them back down, and keep doing it to keep them from jumping out. Alternatively you could throw the container in the fridge for a few min for them to go to sleep, then pull them out and quickly clean the cage before they wake up.
I change mine as well, and second the opinion of mirroring the sun. My reptile room has a window and I keep the shades open for my little ones :) It may take them a week to adjust but they will do so just fine. If you are concerned you could always make the adjustments over a 4-day stretch...
I live in FL, and have a well with hard water. I would go to the local supermarket and buy the purified water from the water machines just inside the door, and use a large 6 gallon carboy to tote it home. If I used my well water, which was fine for the chameleons, it would plug up the mister...
