She might have been receptive, I didn't let him get too close. She recently changed her coloration to a peachy/salmon color, so I guess this means she's now sexually mature. (?) She's about 6 months old.
No, I stopped him!
I couldn't imagine him moving that fast for food!
Thanks, I was really interested in seeing how he was going to turn out (obviously, by this thread). I've never had a chameleon die on me like this, but I guess there's a first time for everything. I've asked Sam at Backwater if he has more hybrids, but he doesn't. If anyone out there has one...
Sadly, I have to report that my beloved Ozzy has passed away. He had a bad case of flagelates and couldn't recover. He's spent the last week or so boarded at the vet but there was nothing they could do. I've never had a Cham die this young. It's really awful.
Unfortunately, he's become a finicky eater. I've offered him a great variety of feeders, but for some reason he eats very little if any. I thought that the BB flies would snap him out of it, but he ate a few and then stopped. He would eat hornworms, but now he ignores those too. It's gotten to...
That's a good question, I don't think anyone really knows the answer to that yet. We might just have to find out!
That's a solid estimate. He was eating like crazy, but suddenly he's become picky to the point where he barely eats. If this keeps up, I doubt he'll be large at all. He still...
He seems very "ousti-like" to me at present, however I'm seeing more and more colors coming in. I expect a lot more colors to be showing up in the next couple of months. Can't wait!
Thanks everyone. I'm sad to see him go, but I'm also glad that he lived as long as he did. One thing I'd recommend to everyone is to check the expiration dates on your vitamins. I was using the same vitamins for 4 years before I finally realized they had been expired for quite a while! This is a...
Last night Leo passed away peacefully. Earlier in the day I had him outside on his tree and watered him, but I could tell he was getting weaker. Sometimes he's looked weak like this and then perks back up, but this time it was time for him to move on. I feel like he lived a long life, 6 1/2...
I also have a fully planted cage like this, although no where near as big of course. I built it (with the help of a carpenter friend) about 6 or so years ago. Here's the post about it: https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/new-cage-finished-and-a-question-about-lighting.43051/#post-400797

What are you feeding them? I've had my colony for years and about once a year I get rid of half the colony. Usually I sell them off to a pet store, or sell them to someone. I feed mine mostly dandelions from the grocery store, and butternut squash.
