I've decided that I can in fact offer something of a prize. Who ever gets the closest to the the weight come November will get a free dubia starter colony from me! The caveat will be that you have to live within the continental US and of course this will have to exclude Florida since they're...
Yes, a blue bar Ambilobe I believe. I agree that he will likely still have some growing to do by the 1 year mark. At this stage, he doesn't seem to be large for his age at all, but he is eating a lot lately and it'll be interesting how much he grows in the next month or so.
Me too! So far he's been mostly green and gray, with a small amount of red occasionally. He only seems to show colors when I take him outside. I expect that in the next couple of months his colors should be coming in.
388 is pretty big! We'll have to wait and see. He's just starting to come...
I'm very sorry to hear this Jann. He was a beautiful chameleon and he'll be missed. We have to enjoy them during the time we have them, which is sadly all too often way too short.
This is Ozzy, he's a panther/oustalet hybrid and about 6 months old.
I thought it might be fun to try to guess how big he'll get. Adult panthers are in the range of 150-250 grams and 16-20 inches or so and adult Oustalets in the range from 400-500 grams and 22-27 inches. Let's see who can...
You can get BB flies, phoenix worms (aka black soldier flies), and a lot of other bugs from Nick Barta. You can email him at: [email protected]
There's also mantisplace.com
and rainbowmealworms.net (the code WORMLOVE might just get you 10% off here)
I think you can definitely feed him a bit larger crickets. It's good he's a healthy eater. I have an oustalet/panther hybrid about the same size, and I have to say I don't feed him nearly as much as you are. Maybe I should be feeding more! I would suggest you add some hornworms, black soldier...
One of my panthers is also a picky eater. He won't eat dubias and only seems to like superworms occasionally. He loves hornworms, but I don't always have those on hand. He's about 2 years old, so I'm not really worried about him. He'll also eat the occasional soldier fly larva. One trick that I...
I used to use one, which worked great for a while, but the problem was the hose kept getting all tangled up and then it would stopped working. I kept thinking I was doing something wrong since it was supposedly a pretty expensive model for use in labs. I got it for cheap at a bio supply shop...
It sounds like it could be the early stages of MBD. I had a Jackson that I took to the vet, and he had no outward signs of MBD, but the vet gently squeezed his lower jaw which was just the slightest bit flexible. It should be 100% rigid. To correct it, I upped his calcium with D3 for a while...
My Leo is now 6 years old and weighing in around 220. Yes, he is a panther and I documented his growth here: https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/entry/spring-2011-growth-update.429/
I think you can see that his growth spurt was a bit later than your guy's. He hit 80 grams at about 8 months...
