I'd highly recommend using live plants. Common chameleon safe options include pothos, schefflera, hibiscus, and ficus. FLChams has a handy list of a bunch more options too: http://flchams.com/chameleon-safe-plant-list/. You have to make sure they're non-toxic because veileds can be nibblers, but...

Temperatures should be around 85 degrees at the hot spot for a juvenile male. Also, chameleons can actually see those night lights, so I'd stop using it asap. It's likely you don't need a night light at all. What temperature is it at night without the night light?

In addition to filling out the forum above can you also include some photos of your chameleon and the back of their hind legs? We first have to make sure he is indeed a "he" ^^

From what I can see from these photos his bone structure looks pretty good. The one thing I haven't seen is a casque that looks like his, but then again I've only owned one veiled. Perhaps @jannb can provide some insight. (Sorry for always tagging you Jann, you're just so knowledgeable x3)
