Veiled chameleon

i have a veiled chameleon, I forgot to ask how old he is but I'm assuming he's about 2 months old at least maybe 3, this is my first pet ever but I researched chameleon care and cages and feeding before getting him, I was also always into animals so I learned so much from reading and watching the animal planet growing up. I just want to say that a chameleon is awesome, they're pretty chill and their colors change so fast. I believe he recognizes me and likes me, I can hold him and he doesn't mind, I can open his cage and he won't hide or try to run away, he doesn't like cup feeding that much tho but I think it's okay he gets to walk all around his cage and catch the crickets himself

Chameleons only recognize you as a safe "tree" and don't actually have any bond with you. He could be happy one moment and try to bite the next thats just how they are because like i said there isnt a bond in that way as other animals may have. Handling chameleons should be kept to a minimum it stresses them out very much and he should only be "held" on his own accord no forcing him out or grabbing him out, only if he wants to climb out. Dont over stress your little guy seeing he is still very small. Veileds also tend to be more defensive then most chameleons and they get pretty big. Also wanted to add Animal Planet doesnt know everything;) Hope you know about supplementation, misting, humidity, proper UVB and Basking temps. Just a quick tip my veiled loves live plants and he takes some bites out of his plan on getting one. Be sure its safe for chameleons first.

Welcome to the forums. This is a great place to learn about chameleons and meet other chameleon keepers. Your little guy is certainly cute! Are you sure you have a males? Does he have little bumps on the heels of both back feet? I keep veileds and love them very much. I have some babies right now that are the great, great Grands of my first two veileds. I have a blog you might like to read linked below.

They must be truly a sight to see. My veiled hates my guts hell lunge at me during maintenance and even hand feedings when i offer his favorite worm(horn worm) he is still very loved. My panther on the other hand will run out to climb on me any chance he gets even while im giving him his worm treat with the worm still in his mouth.

You can see some of my chameleons here in post #44
My veileds have the best personality of all my guys but I love them all the same.

I just paid some bills so I haven't been able to spend so much on getting him a lot of decor, they were priced pretty expensive at pet smart, I am looking to getting him more things and a live plant
Try Home Depot or Lowe’s for live plants they’re cheap too like Pothos and umbrella and ditch the carpet they start to think and are hard to clean I’ve tried that when mine was small

You can find some real plants for cheaper than the fake ones at home improvement stores. Try some pothos, schefflera, and/or ficus plants.
Here's a list of a bunch more safe plants http://flchams.com/chameleon-safe-plant-list/
Hope this helps a bit ^^
