How close does a UVB Lamp have to be to be effective?? Are there ways to extant that distance?
I have a very large ficus tree. I'd like to set it up as an occasional free range. I have some concerns about lighting as it's way over 10 feet tall.
I have a recessed light directly above it, but...
I don't have that particular model, but mine is done that way and it works perfectly. I used 7/8 clear vinyl tubing in the corner, zip ties, and it rocks.
Make sure you do not have a drip loop in your hose. Condensation can collect inside the line and cause a sort of cavitation. I bet you have...
I'm not an expert by any means, but it's normal for some chameleons like veileds to eat plants...
Insects in the feces, says parasites for most animals.... if I saw that I'd get a fecal float done at the vets, they'll prolly give you panacur or something and everything should be fine.

Thanks guys, first injection was very easy. No problems at all. He's a pretty easy going little guy and the needle is TINY. :-) I'm feeling good about it and he's eating like a horse again today. All good news.
my 6 month old panther is getting ceftazidime, and I am being instructed to inject it subcutaneously every 3 days. It is a treatment for a respiratory infection. Everybody's posts are showing IM in the legs...
Should I be concerned?
Thanks for your replies guys. :) Ambient room temps are anywhere from 65-80. I heat exclusively with a wood stove.

So first off, in my case, we are talking about a 6 month old male panther chameleon.
I tried the standard incandescent household bulb, in 60w and 100w and ran about 6 thermometers. I could get a very small usable area of space within my upper temperature range. He constantly hung out directly...
I'm getting ready to do this on a DIYcage. The ledges are really high quality and I am sure they will help. I'll let you know how it goes, will be assembling on Christmas Day.
Undoubtedly - I would hang bozo the clown in zebra striped pajamas off the side of the cage before I would do anything to compromise his health. Truly.
Those shower curtains look great... or don't look like anything at all. I had thought of doing sheets of plexi, but now I see it's...
That's what I have going on right now. But keeping both temps & humidity up is a struggle.
Personally, looks matter to me. I'm not a huge fan of shower curtains... ;-)
The mist king is on it's way. But truly it would have to run near constantly in our wood stove fueled house to keep things where they should be.
Thinking of piping in a humidifier through the floor. Thoughts? Fogger or Home Depot humidifier?
I had an large maybe 5' iguana that used to do quite a bit of roaming in our house. Oddly, he only pooped on linoleum. He escaped and we found him about a week later outside in a tree. He loved bananas and my sister climbed the tree with a banana and he came right over so we got him back...
