Hand misting, pothos & ficus, dripper, have turned on a cool most humidifier in his room now.

Started a new thread in the health clinic wth how to ask for help information. Have also called the local herp vets office to get a game plan if I need emergency services.

I put a tube from the fogger right into the cage, not the room.

Could have just been a defensive posture while he was sleeping? When a animal is asleep, that is when it is most susceptible to predators. Being in a new place, cage setup, and new owner, he may have just been feeling threatened, and thought he would make himself look scary.

Alright... so 80 % humidity. Temp ranges from 95 to 72.

Reduced gaping. Although he still looks kinda bitchy. Don't think he really approves of me.

I keep all my panthers and veileds in the 85-87 ranges and that's only when they are 8+ months. When they are below it I don't go above 85. I don't understand how low 90s are freezing at all. Even on the care sheet it's not recommended to give a juvenile above an 85 degree range

I'm not sure of anything. All I know is I called and he has been raised in the low 90's. Irregardless, I think it's most important to be consistent.

At least for most animals they can adjust to anything as long as it isn't bouncing all around. I've just messed this guys world all up because I didn't listen closely and I thought that was pretty hot. I think it's best to go with what he is used to.

He looks way more comfortable at about 89 than he does at 81. Which doesn't mean a lot since I'm new at this and I have no experience.

I think the higher temps and humidity are helping. He seems to be gaping less and less. Major fingers crossed that this continues in a positive direction. Tonight he is at 78 degrees and 82% humidity.

I have a question. Whenever I mist the cage, temps drop for a significant amount of time, and he looks dark and awful until they come back up. How do I keep temps up while misting??

Warm water. But he should be fine, as soon as he goes to bask.

In order to cause more humidity more quickly and make drinking happen quicker I use hot water, it should be steaming and you shouldn't be able to comfortably put your hand in it. Use a fine mist, it should be warm when it hits the chameleon.

A pump mister is a great tool to have. Saves your hand, and you can mist or get a fine drip stream going for him to drink from directly. Best ~$20 investment ever.
