After staring at it for a couple hours there's been a slight change in plan. I'm going to take a foot off the bottom, all around the back and sides, and screen that with a simple frame. For no particular reason, I have some 1" PVC bar stock lying around. I also have some UV-resistant clear...
Thanks all :)
The walls are partially installed now. I'm going to chop off about 6" of the sides, at the bottom ends, for screen. The top and bottom are all screen as well. Once all that is squared away I'll build the doors. Then we're on to plumbing and wiring.

I concur, plenty of airflow in that cage. As long as you provide enough airflow to keep the atmosphere fresh, and as long as you're removing any standing water from the bottom with some kind of drainage system, then it truly doesn't matter if the walls are made of screen or 6-meter thick concrete.
As long as both the air and surface temps are safe, in the right range, and your chameleon seems to be comfortable with his hot spots and cool spots, you're fine. I promise you that deviating from the Sacred Ideal is not an instant death sentence, nor does it constitute an implicit declaration...
Like they said up there ^^, in that picture I see a beautiful, healthy boy.
Get used to the idea that your beloved pet is sometimes a little weirdo, and that this is both OK and hilarious. I often find mine in a funny pose or engaged in some at-first bewildering activity. All part of the charm...
The trunks are 6" PVC and the branches are wood crafting dowels secured with metal L-brackets and screwed into the trunks. The base of the trunk is the kind of plastic louvered drain you can pick up in Lowe's for a few bucks; the 6" pipe fits right in. The whole assembly was coated with a...
Progress. Top & bottom screened in, trees and treetops mostly installed. Still need to secure the tops of the trunks to the frame and install the drain tray.

The walls I ordered from e-plastics are finally arriving on Monday so I can...
I've found that escaped feeders will munch on the brown Fluker's vines. I don't know if it was the work of crickets or dubia, but one or both of them were eating the vines in the night.
Understandable, but Step 1 is to disregard pretty much everything you were told by PetCo. Instead, I would read the care sheets provided here in this site under Resources.
I like to get to know the personality first, to see if any fitting names jump out. The first thing Hilts did was to escape from his (flawed) baby cage. On the spot, I named him after Steve McQueen's character in "The Great Escape".
Sadly that doesn't surprise me at all. It's wrong, but it's common in pet stores. This is especially true in the big chains, where such decisions are made by accountants and not animal experts. For example, my local PetSmart uses Fluker's w/ a mega-dose of D3 as a daily duster. It's a recipe for...
If you're talking about the Fluker's calcium with 100,000 IU / lb then yeah, you should drop that if you're using it as a daily duster. Its's fine for his monthly dose.
