does not look bad to me . do you have a heat source so close to the top of the cage that it could be a burn ? if so I would move the heat source high enough that burns could not happen
great advice . he will likely come around in time . I have 2 veileds that I got in may . the female tolerates some handling but the male still is not into it . now I kept them outside right until the daytime temps were less than 70 and sunny , about a week ago . now that they are inside I...
agreed . when I kept jacksons I would get them blue bottle flies . what a show ! I would also put them on a hanging plant on my patio and anything that landed - yummy . my quads love the flying stuff also .
well there you go . I guess they are not a great for gutloading insects . although I will still give the occasional piece of tomato to my giant lacerta .
I think you are right . I know I feed tomato to my Gallotia Stehlini occasionally . he likes them and has shown no ill effects in the 3 years I have had him .
I live in new York . I spray the screen cages and the free range room daily . but I also have a planted tube cage I built that goes in the shower once or twice a week and the chameleons get a nice shower . this has been working for me and my lizards for going on 20 years now .
I live on long island and I just brought my veilds in for the season , though they might go out for a while if we get some 70 degree sunny days . my quads are still out until the night temps are below 45 , which is supposed to happen tonight . but they will go back out when the nights warm up in...
once the eggs have been laid and are set up it is very difficult to move them without them being jostled and their orientation being changed . once they start flipping around they will most likely die . if you want to learn more check the breeding section of the forums and look up moving eggs .
I have a pygmy I hatched around 6 weeks ago . I did not see him eat until about 2 weeks ago . but the bugs kept disappearing so I was not worried . he has more than doubled in size already . on another note I ordered 2 female pygmies from canvas chameleons yesterday .
you do not need to use a lot of sealant . a few dabs in the corners and a few in the center area work fine . the stuff usually cures in about a day . I have put dart frogs in a terrarium 36 hours after using the aquarium silicon and had no problems . as long as the odor is gone it should be fine...
I only wish these forums were around when I first started keeping chameleons . in fact I had reptiles way before I had a computer . there were few books on reptile husbandry and those that existed could best be called approximate guidelines for keeping reptiles . remember when ball pythons...
why care about what people think ? most people do stuff that others might think odd . is getting up early and walking an animal on a 20 degree day maybe a little odd ? not to those who do it . I have snakes , lizards (including chameleons) and dart frogs so everyone here knows some of my...
I had 1 quad male (steve) for around 6 years who used to live on the bay window in my living room . he would sit on the top of the couch , the laptop computer and either me or my wife . he would come over especially when I had the birds in the room .
