I put my basking spot about 5 inches from the enclosure ceiling and the temp controller to max at 82.
When I measured the ceiling, it got to 90 which is warm but doesn’t seem to cause burns. This took away that stress as well. Hope this helps!!
Hello, fellow newbie as well. Something I did was buy a temperature controller. It lets me set a temperature that I want the heat bulb to max out at, and a minimum as well. It will stay in between those zones automatically so no stressing of it getting too hot. Specially as summer days vary in...
Does yours have a favorite leaf too?
I got Thor as a hatchling and he had a favorite leaf for his first 2 months, but he got too heavy for it since it’s a real tree and had to pick a sturdier one now :ROFLMAO:
Sad for him, but it means he’s growing! :D
Happy Thursday all, just curious if anyone else has noticed their Chameleon use their tongue to collect water droplets that are about to drop?
It’s the cutest thing ever
I would honestly go with the vet. I had an Iguana years ago who got a cyst in her mouth and I was thinking of draining myself. I got worried and took her to the vet, which I learned that apparently some reptiles can develop pus inside of cyst that hardens and almost crystalizes.
It can be hard...
That is really cool! It seems like a lot of them do choose a sleeping place.
I'm glad I can come here and post random thoughts like this online with other Chameleon enthusiasts instead of annoying friends and family with these same topics haha
Random Thought: Does anyone else's Chameleon have a favorite place for bed?
Mine chooses the same leaf on his Fig Tree every evening to fall asleep on. It's pretty cute.
I can tell when he starts getting tired, 30 minutes before his lights go off, he will start making his way towards the...
You can try 2 different things:
1) Get live plants if you don't have any in there, this helps the humidity stay up between mistings. I have tested this and can confirm it helps. I have a Fig Tree in my enclosure for my Chameleon, it's in a pot on the floor of the enclosure and it reaches the...
I would put more branches and things to climb on, higher towards the top of the cage. This way your Chameleon can thermoregulate as needed, and absorb UVB at his/her desired level.
Also, I read somewhere on these forums once, that empty space is unusable space by your Chameleon :) Hope this helps.
Woahhhhhh, that is a gorgeous lizard! I'm jealous. The vivarium looks amazing. I'd love to see the whole enclosure in a frame.
Beautiful reptile once again! :D
You guys you guys! Big monumental moment.
As I got home and was getting ready to mist Thor, getting ready to admit defeat and drive to the store to get Crickets, not only did he eat a Dubia, but he ate in front of me for the first time ever. (Double win)
I give him a lot of privacy since I...
Hello all,
I keep seeing people post about how picky their Panther Chameleons can be, and it has happened to mine as well I believe.
I have about a 2 month old (possibly younger) Panther Chameleon that doesn't seem to be eating Dubias or Black Soldier Fly Larvae. I see him hang out near his...
Same with my gf! I read a long time ago that depression isn't necessarily just sadness, but the lack of caring. You stop caring about your looks so you let yourself go, you stop caring about your job so you start doing bad, and it gets to a point where you stop caring about more and more things...
Hello, newbie here as well. I started getting ready, buying things (Enclosure, Temperature Controllers, Timers, Bulbs, Lamp Fixtures, Decor) in chunks, and reading all the info maybe like 6 months before getting a Chameleon, and it's a smart thing that you are doing the same! I cannot tell you...
So I will start off my thread by saying I'm a Chameleon Noob, trying to learn and sorry if this question sounds dumb haha.
So I've been purchasing a variety of feeder insects (Crickets but staying away from these now, just trying to finish the supply I have left, Dubia Roaches, and Black...
That works too! I keep my Inkbird Controller running 24/7 with my Ceramic Heat lamp plugged in and at the temps I mentioned above. My Chameleon just sleeps in the lower branches of his Fig Tree where it stays in the lower 60s. In fact, he actually has come to favor a specific branch for bed...
I honestly have no clue. I'm such a newb to Chameleons. I had been doing so much research on chameleon setups, and pros and cons to the various types of chameleons (Veiled, Panthers, Pygmys, etc), that I didn't know there was branches of Panthers until I joined this forum after buying little...
You guyssss I'm so jealous. My Thor is a wee baby (maybe an inch now from nose to base of tail) and only does Tans and patterns of browns, with a little red under his throat if I accidentally mist him, he's such a grouch (I don't ever aim for him but if even a little mist touches him, he...
