Is my enclosure fine?

Hi people!

I would just kindly ask you for your opinion, and maybe get some advice for the enclosure ^_^

I would put more branches and things to climb on, higher towards the top of the cage. This way your Chameleon can thermoregulate as needed, and absorb UVB at his/her desired level.

Also, I read somewhere on these forums once, that empty space is unusable space by your Chameleon :) Hope this helps.

Thanks you, i was also hoping to build some more at the top, but can't really seem to get it stable. But i get what you mean, and i gotta fix it soon.. Also the moisture is only about 40%, and is somehow hard to get above, unless i spray they cage very often.. What is due to ?

You can try 2 different things:

1) Get live plants if you don't have any in there, this helps the humidity stay up between mistings. I have tested this and can confirm it helps. I have a Fig Tree in my enclosure for my Chameleon, it's in a pot on the floor of the enclosure and it reaches the top of the cage pretty much. If you decide to get live plants, make sure you get some that are not toxic to your Chameleon. Here's a list. Make sure to switch soil of any live plants to soil without any pesticides or chemicals.

2) Other people on here use shower curtains (cut and tape to enclosure or how ever you want to attach) to wrap 3 sides of the enclosure and this will help keep a lot more moisture in as well. I have not tried this as the live plants worked well for me.

Heard others used live plants aswell to help! Thanks for the advice ^_^

In addition to live plants (which your chameleon will benefit greatly from), to get better horizontal walkways up higher in the closure, just attach some branches which go all the way from the left side to the right. You will want to make sure to place one underneath the basking light/UVB, so your cham can get close enough (but not too close). You can use things like push-pins, hand screws, zip ties, and garden wire to secure them. Your cham will thank you!

All great advice from syreptyon. I wanted to ask though what you are using for a basing light? It might be out of frame, but I only see a uvb light

I use the 3-sided shower curtain method as well and lots of live plants. You can get a shower curtain with just about any kind of background printed on it for less than $20. Mine has a jungle waterfall look going on, it really blends in well with the rest of the enclosure. And no, using a shower curtain does not defeat the purpose of an open air cage. Chameleon enclosures are all about striking that perfect balance between countless variables. Heat, humidity, UVB, food, hygiene, hiding spots, I'm sure you all could name several more... I build custom enclosures on the side and I find having just the top and front of your enclosure made of screen still provides plenty of airflow to run through it, it is balanced.

@Appak are you doing hand spraying? I also agree about the heatlamp but the rest looks good once you get the branches up higher. Is this the reptibreeze or what brand is the enclosure?
