It’s almost always husbandry related, normally to do with inaccessible water or incorrect supplementation. Mine passed from kidney issues but mine was due to a genetic issue that caused problems sadly. Make sure to do a review of your husbandry before looking into getting another cham.
You could get them do a cham post mortem exam kind of thing but its not a definite way of getting an answer. The vet sounds like they think it was a kidney issue probably leading to kidney failure. Sorry for your loss
Gingivitis is basically like gum disease and infection, it can get quite serious. I suspect the fruit is to blame if it is gingivitis but definitely book a vets appointment with a vet who has experience with reptiles and chameleons. Here’s some more info about gingivitis in reptiles...
I’m so sorry for your loss, at least you know you did everything you could have done and gave him the life he deserved. 5 1/2 is a good age, I wish I’d had that long with mine, I really feel for you though. RIP little buddy and my thoughts are with you ❤️❤️
Balancing a pandemic, unsupported early entrance for Uni applications in despite teachers failing you by giving the wrong grades, chronic pain, heavy content A Levels AND jaw surgery is a lot for the moment? Managing but barely lol
It’s most likely not going to happen for a few months so I have time to go back through everything and get new bulbs etc. My viv is actually 4x2x2 it’s just been a long day and I forgot how measurements work somehow? I don’t know but i’ve been incredibly stressed for the past month so my brain...
I’m looking into getting a chameleon after not having one for a few years, I have a 3x1.5x1.5 viv. Just wondering about any new husbandry tips and ideas since I was last in the community. Looking to get male panther cham again so any tips would be great.
Hi everyone,
It’s been a long time since I was active on here as I haven’t owned a chameleon in at least 2 years. My beloved Jukka passed away in June 2018 at age 5 as a result of a genetic issue with his kidney causing it to fail. He was my first ever reptile and fuelled my passion for exotics...
hi just wondering about a box of crickets i got from a store i've never bought from before. I bought a tub of black crickets and i'm not sure if he can eat them. Normally gets locusts but i thought i'd change it up a bit.
hi i'm just checking about my chameleon Jukkas colours. when he was younger he was pale brown but you could see when his colours started coming through. He is just over a year now and he only shows his bright reds and yellows off when he's asleep (i believe that this is what they do in the wild...
i'm so sorry for your loss of Dexter, he sounds like he had a fantastic life with you and he was beautiful. I'm sure you had good times with him and that's what you have to remember, the happy moments. I hope you're doing ok though <3
