hello, i am Mohamed from the post "black spots not from aggression" on 24th of august, ur aid was truely helpful, thank u alot??.
this time i found this swelling that doesnt interfere with appetite however i found him not wanting to project his tongue to catch insects instead he preferes to go to them and catch them with his mouth unless i hand feed him where i move the insect away from him so he has to catch it with his tongue.

His health stats are all normal except for the swelling and tongue projection (eats and drinks well, eyes work normally, poop good with no smell and urine creamy white and he is normal active not hypo or hyper active i dont bother him infact he comes to me or atleast not run away) , he is well hydrated(misted every now and then, have a water bowl, and fed cucumbers and sometimes some fruits), he gets his calcium regularly (calcium powder), and fed mealworms (3 a day)(their substrate is oatmeal and provided with carrots on its surface), and he gets direct sunlight from the balcony he lives in which is his big enclosure having fecus tree of ~1.7 meters long, the chameleon is a common chameleon, its natural habitat is in Egypt its local name is the saharan chameleon from its yellow colors.

Could be a bit of gingivitis from the fruits maybe? Could just be that causing irritation and swelling
thank u for the reply the fruits were bananas mainly and mango and i last fed him 3 or 4 days ago
is gingivitis a concern and would it interfere with tongue projection?

Gingivitis is basically like gum disease and infection, it can get quite serious. I suspect the fruit is to blame if it is gingivitis but definitely book a vets appointment with a vet who has experience with reptiles and chameleons. Here’s some more info about gingivitis in reptiles

The swelling in the corner of the mouth might be hurting when he uses his tongue.
Is he being kept inside or outside?
What are you feeding him? Wild daughter insects or insects from a pet store?
Are you supplementing/dusting them with anything?

he is being kept inside in my balcony in my house, i feed him 3 mealworms a day(only source of food to find where i live) crickets r very hard to get and breed, the worms r kept with me with their substrate being oatmeal and carrots on the surface and i regularly dust them with calcium powder
u can read the first reply were i say more of the husbandry

So he's getting direct sunlight with no glass between him no the sun?

I'm sorry I can't figure out what exactly that swelling could be....but you posted the prefect photo for seeing it.

@ferritinmyshoes Any idea?
