I have a ZooMed combo dome. I really like it. It came with my screen cage kit, but I'd recommend it others. I had a problem with one in the past, where you'd screw in the bulb wasn't working. You'd have to tilt the bulb a certain way for it to work, so I returned it and haven't had a problem...
Here you'll follow the life of Walker Warren Smith, a male veiled chameleon, as he ages from 3 months on up. There will mainly just be photos of him as he grows, and what I have learned as a chameleon owner.
You can also follow us on Instagram @...
It's 100% normal! They're just shy lizards. He'll eventually come out and explore about when he's comfortable with his cage. When I got my baby veiled he did nothing but hide for the first 32 hours. All you can do is kind of give them their space and be patient with them.
This was Walker'spoop today. It's usually dark and solid, but today it looks a little mucus-y. I believe part of the cause is the raspberries that my mom fed him yesterday.
(A few days a go my mom misted his cage while I was at work and he tried to eat her red nails, so that's why she fed him...
This is Walker. He's just a really relaxed dude. He'll just sit anywhere in his cage like that and watch me while I do maintenance. He doesn't have a bad attitude.... yet. But he's really expressive with his colors.
The only way I can get my 3 month old veiled to eat is by literally hand feeding him. Maybe adding the new plant to his cage scared him? But at least he's taking the superworms from you. That's a lot better than nothing. Just slowly build back up that trust between you two. I would try what...
Wash your plants, and take out half of the soil and replace it with organic soil. Also put either a fine netting over it, or rocks so your chameleon doesn't have a chance of ingesting the soil and it being toxic. Give her/him a week or so to get settled in. Chameleons aren't "hold me all of the...
I'm no professional, but I'd keep her a hydrated as possible. Maybe try to shower her? She could have eggs in her. I'd take her to a vet asap. It's better to be safe rather than sorry. I hope you figure whats wrong and she gets well.
Today I went into a local family owned pet shop to see what they had for misting systems. While I was at it, I took it upon myself to look at their chams. They had a female Jackson's cham and a boy veiled. The female looked pregnant and sickly. They only had one light and something to climb on...
This is only his third day with me. I'm not super worried because I know I'm freaking out over every little thing. He has a lot of places to hide. Before, there was nothing on his baking branch, but I had an extra vine laying around and ever since I wrapped it around the branch, he's been using...
So sometimes Walker likes to puff his chin out. It worries me a little bit. He does it when I'm not in the room. I'll walk in and find him puffed up.
I also got him to hand feed. Actually, my mom did. He hadn't yet touched his crickets so she picked one up and held it in front of him and he...
I'm currently working on making a partial plexi glass cage. The top of the cage where the light is will be screen, along with the door as well. The plexi glass help keep the humidity in for me. I did a test run with it by taking some pieces to my cage at first.
I hope you can see the pictures that I attached. The first one is when I first put him in his cage yesterday. He was pretty much just light green with a few white spots and stripes. Today he has shown his pattern.
