Just the weirdest thing...(Not for the squeamish)

Thank you so much! I will start contacting people tomorrow. :) I'm used to the 'crazy' voice! It doesn't bother me. I have a friend who has done articulations with found bones, but never the cleaning part. She doesn't know anyone else who does this kind of thing though. I'm not sure if she'd...

Just the weirdest thing...(Not for the squeamish)

That is too weird. And funny. And awesome! I bet someone in that family has been watching Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru this season. (It's a Japanese anime about osteography. Seriously. It's good.) If you had asked me before I started keeping critters I would probably...

Thinking about adopting a Jackson's any advice?

Maybe time to find a way to shorten the cage, so if it happens again it won't be as far? I worried about that with mine but she never moved those first couple of weeks.

    Thermometer/Hygrometer suggestions

I've always used the $9 accurites from Walmart. Calibrate first to make sure it's reading correctly, but mine have all been good to within about 4% RH and 2 degrees out of the box. They handle moderate abuse including getting sprayed directly once in a while and last around two-three years in my...

Is there a way to keep crickets from hiding in the plant pots?

This has been perfect!! She won't take the calci or waxworms from it (I have to hand feed in a little cup), but it is working for the crickets and the supers since they climb up the mesh. Thank you!!

    Fecal samples under microscope

Get yourself a nice reference book or wall chart with images of what to look for. :) I worked as a medical assistant for a shelter and it really isn't hard once you learn to set it up properly. Even when I managed the cat programs I'd run fecals to save time for the medical staff when I was off...

    Question about Banana Roaches

I told my husband the first dubia nymphs were exotic pill bugs. ;) I ended up so allergic to my roaches I had to get rid of them all. :( If you ever get allergy tested, cockroaches are standard on the prick test. I knew going into it I was already allergic, but repeated exposure made it worse...

Could use help and guidance - new veiled owner with new rescue

The calciworm situation was dealt with. :) And it just so happens that the single egg from the rescued leopard geckos hatched today, so we're going to need teeny foods now. Miss Piggy will eat both the calci and wax worms... but only if I put them in a little cup and hold it for her while she...

Please keep Cooper in your thoughts and prayers

Too much at once. :( I very much hope he's okay, and that your surgery goes well, too!

What can be done about mouth rot?

You should be able to find an understanding vet that will charge you for a single office visit and one culture if they're all showing the same signs. I come from a cat rescue background, and while some offices refuse to break their protocol and insist on charging per animal when there is an...

Could use help and guidance - new veiled owner with new rescue

Well.... hopefully she'll go back for more. Her first hit and she got like five at once and had a little trouble swallowing. I don't want to name her Piggy, but it's slowly turning out that way. The waxworms from Grubco are perfect. Really really happy with them. The calciworms...

Discoloration on my veiled chameleon! Please can someone help!

Can she still move it and grip things?

Ugh. Trust Delta or trust Fedex... Sorry you're in this predicament. :(

Could Use Some Advise On Shipping

Is there no way to bring him on the plane? Boxed up it would be same as shipping him, but if you can make arrangements ahead of time he might be able to stay as carryon with you the whole time and you wouldn't have to worry. With two of you, having two animals shouldn't be an issue.

Could use help and guidance - new veiled owner with new rescue

Repotted the scheflerra today, which was good because it was soggy and molding. With luck the crickets can't tunnel into the bottom of this one. Also split up and added the pothos back in, and moved the dripper so I don't have to reach over her to adjust it. :) I'm trying to go for the full...

Thinking about adopting a Jackson's any advice?

I'm not understanding why their vets aren't saying something when they see an ill animal, especially multiple ones over time. It does the chain no good to be paying a distributor who is supplying them less than perfect animals. It costs them money in deaths and upset customers. If everything is...

Thinking about adopting a Jackson's any advice?

Can't something be done since they're coming in sick? Doesn't Petco have a policy that all animals are vet checked before being sold? (It's been like 15 years since I bought a hamster there.)

Yeah, and starved and MBD and parasites - she was rescued and is under a vet's care.

There's room in the laundry room. Hubby didn't seem too turned off by the idea. Had a late night thought - are veileds usually active? Climbing around and hissy and whatnot? I've been comparing her current activity to what she had been doing, but it just occurred to me that what she had been...
