I went to the pet store to buy some fish for the pond in my backyard when I found myself in the reptile section. I was in love.:LOL: The water dragon was my first glance at reptile-dom, and I loved it. I turned the corner and saw the chameleon enclosure. After doing research, I realized...
That's what happened to me! He's fine now, and his sheds are perfectly normal, but for a while at the beginning I was terrified that he was going to die.....
He's doing fine! He's been really goofy lately, he'll try to eat my hat after climbing up my face, trying to eat the tweezers...
One of the mistakes I made was trying to become friends too soon. He was constantly afraid of me, because I tried to handle him about a week after I got him. He's going to need his space. This will help build trust, when he sees that you 1.) feed him and 2.) leave him alone. My bud Nik is also...
Thank you very much. I will definitely look into that. @jajeanpierre, thank you for taking the time to invest your knowledge of how to research. I appreciate it. I will definitely take a look at that site, it sounds great. I know several other sites about chameleons, such as Much Ado About...
Thank you, @Andee. I will definitely be asking situation-specific questions, but for now this is all speculation. (not for long, hopefully, but still.):)
It is most likely a pattern. Seeing as he is around 4-5 months old, he is probably getting ready to gain his adult colors. I wouldn't worry about it too much, but if it doesn't change color when he does, as turkenheimer said, then I would get professional help.
I probably should have been more clear.
I am new to this. While yes, some of this is true, and I'll admit to that, I am truly looking to the future here. Any and all chameleons are awesome, special creatures, and I'd be interested in having one of every group, name, color or personality...
Yeah, that's most definitely a female. I made the same mistake and almost bought a female before noticing that her casque was small(er) and she didn't have the tarsal spurs the males had in photos......
Well, it looks to me like maybe some insect guts/a scratch. Maybe you have some loose wire somewhere? My cham is a really messy eater, he's always spewing insects guts everywhere when he eats, so maybe that's it...... not an expert tho. Don't count on my advice as solid truth!
I congratulate you on your humility. I know a lot of people who, even though they can't properly take care of an animal, they keep it anyway until they can. It's heartbreaking to lose a little guy like that, but he's going to be safe and happy.
Wow! That's awesome! What did you make it out of? Can you give the rest of the keepers-that-aspire-to-own-enclosures-like-that an estimate as to how much it costs to build and maintain that?
Whoa! Those are crazy cool enclosures!
I really liked those of @jpowell86 and @Extensionofgreen, so I was wondering if you guys could tell us how you built all that awesome space!
Those are the kinds of enclosures I want to have in the future for my chams.:)(y):D
Wow! Being the nerd I am, I can't help but fawn over these little guys..... They're SOOOOO cute! I kinda want one, but I know I can't get one..... *sigh*........
