Hi all! I'm thinking of getting my first tattoo soon, and I love the idea of a chameleon design. Do any of you have chameleon or other reptile tattoos? Show them off here! I need some inspiration!
Thanks for the quick responses, guys. :)
He looks very bad today--lethargic and not eating. I'm taking him to the vet in a few hours. Keep my baby boy in your thoughts!
Hi everyone! My two year old male somehow got a cut on his chin awhile back, where the scales had peeled away. It seemed like it was healing until recently, when I noticed more gray patches showing up on his chin in the area of the wound.
All of his other colors are bright and happy, but he has...
Hey all!
So I know our chameleon loves aren't exactly the brightest of creatures, but are there any kind of toys or enrichment activities we can provide to them?
My boy's favorite activity is sitting perfectly still on his favorite perch, and he usually is pretty mad if you try to move him...
I took Jabba out of his cage this afternoon, and he was in a HORRIBLE mood! He was fine when I was moving things around in his cage and getting his food ready, but once I got him on my hand and pulled him out of the cage, he started flaring and hissing like crazy!
He clearly wanted me to put...
Haha no problem! I'm usually the same way! As time goes on you just kind of get used to how weird chams are. A lot of times things that look worrisome turn out to be normal!
I did notice some poop in his cage when I cleaned it today, but now that I think about it, there definitely wasn't as much as there should have been. Shoot. That's probably the problem! Do you have any suggestions for how to treat that?
That sounds pretty normal! I know my boy basically doesn't move (or eat!) during his shed. Since their skin is basically just falling off all over the place, it's super uncomfortable for them to move around. He's probably just uncomfortable, waiting til his shed is over!
As long as he's moving...
Hey guys!
So I work at a pet store, and we have a juvenile male chameleon in right now. He appears to be no more than 2 months old, but he seems oddly fat.
This is how he looks normally. He can puff up and get even bigger, but he doesn't seem to make himself skinnier. Is this a sign of...
I'm not sure how much shipping costs, but my favorite site for cham supplies is petmountain.com. I hope you can find something affordable! Otherwise, building a custom cage is definitely cheapest, as mentioned above, but of course very time-consuming.
Thanks for the responses, guys!
After a little googling it does seem like the nails don't grow back, but they do wear down over time! Sounds like I'll just have to wait awhile, and they'll start dulling naturally. (Just putting this up here for anyone in the future who has the same question as me!)
The hiss along with the puff sounds like he's just startled by something...not sure what it could be though. I would say to give him another week or so of adjusting to his new environment, and if it persists, he may have some physical discomfort going on.
Hey all!
Just wondering, has anyone taken any effort to trim their cham's claws?
I'm asking because I often take Jabba with me for educational herpetology events/shows, which means he's walking around on me and other people sometimes. It was no problem when he was younger, but he's grown so...
Doesn't seem like a cause for concern, just keep an eye on the viv, make sure there aren't any others popping up. They won't pose much of a threat to your cham, but if they find a place to lay eggs in that nice warm humid vivarium, you could have an infestation on your hands!
(I had this...
